Bike has ticking noise on the forward jug and back fires at de-accel, S&S folks say its some bushing on valve train and sent me smaller primary jets. i have adjusted the push rods to specs added a new thunder bolt ignition. Haven't changed the jets yet but wondering if i should go on and open the top end also would you have the gaskets I'll need and the bushings they,re talking about

Thanks Guru, did those checks last night. Cleaned out all connections for good grounds as well. Guess i"m back to opening the top end. Gotta order the gaskets and see about the bushings, hopefully it'll be that and no further tearing down.

...before you bust that top end... take an oil analysis, that might help make your decisions

The bushings they are telling you about is the rocker arm brass bushings. Now the bushings are cheap however the problem is to ensure they are fitted correctly they need to be reamed to the right size. The reamer alone is $200. Might end up being easier to remove them and have the shop install them and ream them if you got a good shop in your area.

Here is the reamer:

Now if your going that far is also replace the rocker arm shafts because if bushings are worn it may wear the shafts. You gotta take the shafts out anyways and they are cheap so really no point in not replacing.
