Every once in a while when i nail it and bang through the gears it shuts off on me and then I have to turn the key off and back on again and restart it. Anyone know what this problem might be?

sounds like you're running out of gas. maybe the bowl float? maybe a partially blocked tank strainer?

One key, with a clip going around spark plug wire. This clip I use to clip on belt loop when walking around. Clip is metal if this means anything.

I wish I had more money.
Just that the extra weight hanging on the switch isn't a good idea. That would cause premature failure in some cases. Just a thought.

Just a thought. I'm not sure how to check it other than putting one in that you know is good. How many miles do you have on the bike?

I had the same problem...Right before my 3rd EHC took a BIG DUMP on me....But that time it did just got the battery..But I would bet my bike your headed down the same road I was on..But I was Smokin my Buds Harley with a Screamin Eagle kit..BDM told me I have a wire grounding out that must be causing this..

I also read about there was a EHC recall and I thought that might of been the problem also. I have 7400 miles on the bike.

Start the bike and wiggle the key... see if it will cut out.

You can check your bowl float by drain the bowl, removing the bowl, leaving the hose connected, put the plug back in. Then turn on the gas while holding the bowl perfectly level. It should fill up then turn off when the float rises. I don't know if there is an actual spec on how much gas height but it should fill up pretty good.

Also the gas caps have a EPA vent in them that has been known to stop up and cause a vaccum in the tank. Might want to check that as well. If you have it, its a six sided check valve that will un-screw and can be lofted in to the street:hi:

My son Byrddogg's K-9 was doing the same thing and it was like V said the gas cap was causing a vacuum.

I had the same trouble with my 04 ridgeback, BD said it was my key (NOT). I bet 100 per cent EHC is going bad. I got the wire + and rewired my bike 2000 miles later not one thing has gone wrong.I don't half to worry about anything now, I just can ride.
