05 Ridgeback fuel tank capacity

Recently I ran out of gas and flipped over to reserve and went to the gas station; filled it up and only took 1.5 gallons.

This has happened to me several times and only would accept 1.5 gallons of fuel. My tank I believe has a 4 gallon capacity with reserve.

Any ideas of why only 1.5 gallon fill each time I run out of gas??

Thank you

3.4 gallons I believe. Reserve is .4 gallons. As for your 1.5 refill amount, I can only assume theres something in yr tank taking up space. Shine a flashlight in there and look around. Let us know what you find.

Thx all will try the petcock and let you know.......with Super G and 585 cam I don't pass many gas stations with 1.5 capacity.

Found my problem.........I had the gas cap on too tight and it wasn't venting causing a vacuum.

I cleaned the vent on the gas cap, replaced ran a full tank thru and refilled close to 3.5 gallons.

Thx all

Tank is same as on my old Chopper. 3.8 gls total and .4 gl reserve. I would pull the vent out of the inside of the cap as most of us have

That was simple enough. I have split tanks on my bike and am having an issue with the fuel not transferring from the right to the left. I am suspecting about the same issue as yours. As bad as the weather is here I have plenty of time to check it out.

You may need to replace the rubber hose that connects the two halves.

Rubber hose doesn't last forever and it will swell up on the inside and restrict flow but look normal on the outside.

Gas with any alcohol in it makes this problem worse.
