05 Bulldog slight knock/tap primary chain?

Yes but just noticeable at low rpms, quiet enough the average person wouldn’t notice unless you’re familiar with engines and motorcycles but my ear def caught it. Maybe the exhaust being so loud is why I can’t hear at higher rpm idk, but when I stop the bike and rev it, you can’t hear the knocking anymore. And my clutch has been acting weird, it’s stiff at first but then after I ride it 20 minutes and get warmed up it feels spongy and harder to shift, feels like I lose half my clutch. I tried adjusting it on the frame where the cable is and then it was noticeably slipping so maybe I over adjusted, or do I have a stretched clutch cable that needs replaced?

I was going ask about the right side? That didn't make sense to me!
Yea I’ma knucklehead sometimes. Didn’t realize until I was just out looking at the bike that my primary is on the left. For some reason I was thinking it was on the right. So I have no clue now what’s going on. I’m still going to replace the primary chain and the tensioner pad bc it’s on the last adjustment, but as far as the low volume knocking coming from the right, idk. This bike literally makes me ill sometimes, we got a love/hate relationship

I found these on Amazon is this a good deal? Where could I get the insulator block and intake manifold that I need? …. Also I just realized realized that my primary is on the left side and the noise I was hearing was on the right side? Could it still be the chain or something else? I’ma knucklehead sometimes I apologize for my ignorance guys, bear with me lol
If buying from Amazon just check who the seller is & their seller status. You want a legit S&S G carb or a Ultima R-1 carb to replace the super e.

So couple things…. I talked to Josh out there in Missouri, told him my goals and that right now my pooch has no balls, as is common with 05’s obviously. I want to add the 585 cam, G carb, whatever necessary jetting may be required, machine heads & cylinders, raise compression and add bandit clutch…and obviously inspect internals while it’s opened up. I would rather just leave it to the professionals who work on these dogs daily and understand them well, rather than take a leap of faith and swing blindly at it myself, hoping I get the right parts and don’t fuck something else up while I’m at it! I’m sure I could do it, but it would be challenging and require time that I do not have atm. So I’ll be taking my bike to him in about a month or so whenever I get my Harley back. And hopefully it’s a new monster when I get back in the saddle, bc it’s quite disappointing in current form for a 117. I’m getting smoked by 107 Harley baggers that weigh twice as much! But 2 questions, my kickstand spring fell off and I don’t see where it attaches to, and my clutch seems to progressively be getting worse I have tried all kinds of adjusting it’s been manageable until today, now the clutch will not fully engage and I’m still moving with clutch pulled, even after adjusting so far that the clutch is hard to pull, i don’t think it’s fully disengaging either, bc i can tell sometimes it pulls great and other times it slips noticeably. It also has a loud squeaking from down at the clutch every time i pull or release the clutch lever (idk if that matters or not) but I rode 30 minutes home speed shifting bc it will not shift at all if i try and engage clutch, up or down. It’s weird. Thanks for any advice, I’m going to tear into it tomorrow and see what I can find out run some tests on it…but just thought I’d ask in case someone has seen something similar. I tried to attach a video but won’t let me

I don’t know your situation but. I personally wouldn’t ride it with all the issues you mentioned as you risk screwing the bike up worse. You should have all the problems addressed before worrying about upgrading the engine IMO. Best of luck to you.

Thank u, no I’m not going to. I just had to get it home so I could start working on the primary chain. I am going to inspect everything today and change oils. What’s everyone usually run for the 3 oils?
