04 Mastiff Speedo

Hello, new member here...

So I already knew I was going to have to buy a new Speedo eventually cuz it has a small crack in the bottom of it and the inside seems to be a bit "burned", but apparently I'll have to buy one sooner than I anticipated cuz now it's not reading properly anymore. With the engine off it shows 20mph, so I've just been subtracting 20 from whatever it shows me while I'm riding to get a rough estimate of how fast I'm going.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement (that will fit w/o any issues)?

Also is it just a matter of unplug the existing and plug into the new speedo and voila, I've got a working speedo?

I'm not exactly a master mechanic but I want to learn and I know there's an abundance of knowledge here. Hopefully ya'll can pass some of that knowledge down to me.

There are some used ones available. Check with Bigdogpartsking and eBay. As stated above, a lot of guys switched to DD.

I went with a Dakota for awhile. Worked well just didn't like the look of the display. I went back to a BD black face speedo. Pulled the rubber plug off the back and it hasn't fogged up on me yet. Like to keep the BD original as much as I can.

As far as installation, I assume it's just a matter of "Plug and play" so to speak?


Edit: Does the DD Speedo fit into the housing for the original BD speedo?
