Hey guys so I inherited my brother's 04 big dog chopper dt. I had to replace the starter and jackshaft about 9 months ago. The bike was back to life, been riding about 3 times a week close to 60 miles a week. Then I took it to BBB in Arkansas and put about 400 miles on it 4 days. After the last run on the pig trails I got gas and the jackshaft didn't want to engage into the starter gear ring, just made a grinding noise. We put it in 3rd gear and pushed it through a rev cycle and it started. Got back to the hotel and it wouldn't engage.
Back home in Georgia and took the primary of replaced jackshaft, compensator sprocket and spring, and checked all the clutch discs. Everything I replaced is from big dog is back or big dog part king. With out the outer cover on I tried to start it and I had to realign jackshaft and starter ring gear the bike fired up, I turned it off tried to start again and it grinded again the jackshaft won't slide into the starter ring gear. I really could use some advice from some big dog pros...
