The 04 fit on my 05 even though the 05 has the 300 tire vs. the 280. Not sure if it will fit the 08, prolly not. What do you want to make smaller on your 08? It can be shaved down and recovered.
The 2004 seats rub on the fender of the 2005-06 and will eventually take the paint off. The curve doesn't match the fender that is why BDM has different part numbers. I have a 2004 Corbin seat on my 2005 and had to cut the Glass out of the back of it and re glass it.

The curve of the back, around the fender is different on the 2004 to the 2005/06 seats. They interchange and fit, but they do rub. You'll see if you cover your fender behind the seat in blue masking tape, then do some riding, it will rub holes in the tape. Check the fit real good before doing a lot of Unchecked riding...
... or you may be missing some paint the next time you remove the seat.
