What is the "visible" difference in vented and non-vented gas caps ??

Look at the inside of the caps. The right one will have a venting device of some kind in it. The left one will be solid. There has to be a vent hose connecting the two tanks also. It is under the dash panel at the top of the tanks.

Some one probably does. Weather they admit or not is another issue.

i have 05 mastiff can't get gas cap on the non vented side off, i use water pump pliers but the top part of the chrome cap turns but not rest of it. any help would be great?

The cap on the left tank is left hand thread. Have you tried turning it clockwise?

Yes just the chrome cap turns but threaded part does not?

Yes thats what i've been doing, still trying to get with out damage to the paint

The problem is ethanol in gasoline. It causes the threads to swell. I had the same problem. Read that the new Landmark threads don't swell. Bought a new set of Landmark gas caps which worked well for about a year and then had the same problem. Then I saw that BB Chopper (on this site) was making metal replacement threads. Bought a pair and they work great!
