Anyone ever use a company to transport your bike(s)?

Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I'm moving back to the east coast in July and wanted to look into it. Can't ride them both back and I don't trust the government to move them without damage. Wife and I will each be driving a vehicle back so I may end up just buying/renting a trailer like last time.

Figured I'd ask...

I hauled my Harley in the back of my truck... I didn't trust the companies the Navy contracts out.

I shipped my K9 via a specific motorcycle transport company. They picked it up, put it in a custom pallet and shipped it via allied air ride truck. Took a few weeks but showed up in one piece without a scratch! I was 700 bucks from CT to OK. I can't remember their name but found them on google...

That's a great price. When I was looking to ship my Harley from Chicago to Key West, it was like $1600 for the cheapest company.

It ended up being cheaper, and more fun, just riding it to Key West.

Looks like Pensacola.

Just today, they also offered me Ft. Worth so I'm looking into that as well but the 'primary' is P-Cola.

The current plan has me doing 3 years in one of those two places then another 3 at Pax River MD. then, RETIREMENT!!

The group has provided a lot of great options - I just had my bike delivered from Michigan to Washington. Make sure that you select a company that has experience transporting an expensive chopper - get a good price but remember you get what you pay for. I had an extremley bad experience because I focused on price - they hauled my bike for $1k (3 bikes - K9, R1 and WR450) - I ended up with some black crap on my bike that needs to be buffed off - they switched to an open trailer, the list of lssues goes on and on - my bike looked like it had been thru hell when it arrived - I saved a little money but paid a price.

Good luck

Hey LDO. I live in the Oklahoma city area, so if you move to Ft. Worth, we can be buddies!!!!

Chacha - I've gotta make another trip to the sandbox in January, so I'm looking at July 08 before I move back.

re

Chance you might come to Texas huh? You might be delighted to know that they just recently passed a law here that stipulates that you no longer have to wait for a burglar to enter your home in order to use lethal force. So gone are the days of wetting a scumbags chest then dragging them inside in order to avoid charges against you.

I've used JW transport alot and they have always been great and have an east coast run they do weekly. Course don't have the number on me but I'll retrieve it tonight and post it on here for you...

LDO, let me know when you come to P-cola. I am only about a 45 minute ride away down I-10. And, I just returned from the "sandbox" myself. Did some time at Baghdad International Airport for my summer vacation. I am stationed at Eglin

FT Worth is my pick, 3 hours away.

Either way, make sure you and your family stop by. We'll do a BBQ and have a few beers around a fire.

About when are you transferring?
