Steering stops

When I hit the deer 2 weeks ago, the locating dowel for the bottom neck cup just about sheared off. I have the Daytec frame. The dowel (or pin?) isn't even in the picture in the shop manual. I don't suppose a guy can just buy the pin instead of the whole neck cup kit?

Thats different ,my 04 daytec frame its a one piece construction, the stop is built into the lower cup and its an oblong shape about 5/16 long.

The bottom cup on my frame neck has two tab kinda deals that fit into the brass piece on the lower tree. That limits how far the forks turn. The piece I need is a locating pin that lines up the lower cup with the neck.

I think I'm going to just fab up a replacement. It's the only thing stopping me from starting to put the bike back together.

My lower neck cup

The race is slid out far enough so I could get the pin out. I forgot to take a picture of the bottom of the neck itself. Notice the Daytec cup has two tabs that go into the brass piece on the lower tree instead of one like the BDM neck.

The old and new pins. The old one looked worse before I knocked it out. It straightened out slightly while going thru the hole.

The new one sticking thru the lower cup. Ready to go.

Here's the pics I could find of Alhall's fork stops

But no shots of the inside of the cups...

Yeah I have a daytec frame as well but my stop is nothing like those. Mine is the single stop just like the one gas pictured. But I also noticed you have a 07 and I thought after the 06 model year all frames were made by bigdog. Sorry about the sissy bars I got rid of them on ebay when I had the custom one made.

It's fun seeing everybody's home, living rooms and garages. Mine is full of "Huggies / Pampers". At least you've got bike parts in your pics.

My K9 is a real early 07. Number 6. Probably has some leftover 06 style stuff on it.

I know what you mean Wuu... and sometimes you can see that some of us are living the baller life... sittin on cribs twice the size of the rest of us. All in the american dream I tell ya!!!

Al... I'm with ya. But it seems to be that the K9's are Daytec. That would explain the top mount as well and the whole Jake's spike on the backside.

Here's a shot of the Ridgeback top motor mount which I think is the same as the K9's and both look like Daytec frames.

MN, that fork stop took quite a beating. Have you had the frame checked for trueness/square?

I thought only the RT frames had this style motor mount (straight tube) and the other frames had a curved tube!!!

Yup, I checked it out. It seems to be fine. I ran a 1 inch shaft thru the neck. I checked it going down to the front and then flipped it in upside down and hung the plumbob down to the frame. I wish I had a frame jig in my shop to check it out with......we'll have to see....maybe someday??
