Thanks Knothead. I have a Baker which I messed off, I wasn't sure about the ultima because a lot of guys said don't go with it. Go with a Jim's transmission. I want something that will bolt right up without modifications. Does the Ultima bolt right up?

On the 05 if im not mistaken is no issues from what i heard on them...ive never installed one on a 05 so i cant say forsure....Eric at HDM has studied up on the rsd models a little so give him a call to verify to make sure there is no issue....

Now as far as what people have told you about ultima i dont know what they have heard....but i can say this i run a ultima on one of my bikes and it shifts way way better than baker....i have installed a couple on other peoples lsd drive bikes and they love them....but also i cant speak on how good the rsd ultima is cause ive never messed with them...

Negative...No Bolt On options. 2005-2011 you need to do frame modifications to get ANY transmission other than the Baker DSSC to fit. Doesn't matter if it's another Baker or a JIMS or an Ultima.

Difference is 6 bolts holding on the Baker DSSC to the standard 5 on any other Right Side Drive Transmission.

There's a lot of effort and cost involved. Any other transmission you would have to also get all new inner and outer primary and internals. There's a few ways you can go about skinning this cat....none of them are cheap or easy.

Now in regards to the original poster....his easiest and cheapest bet is to have it rebuilt. Give me a call (620-680-0395) and I can give you some folks to contact.

Not just the fitment issue, I don't think any other transmission would work because of gear ratios. The Baker 6 speed in the 05 and later is a direct drive, meaning 6th gear is 1:1. They use an overdriven primary to get the rpms right. If you used another transmission with an overdrive 6th gear (less than 1:1), you would end up with a 6th gear that was so steep that it would probably be useless. 1st gear would be steep as well. It would be like pulling out in 2nd gear all the time.

I shipped the used newly acquired tranny to Andrew Barns, had it rebuilt to include a new heat treated shaft which was an issue with this bikes back then. That is what is in my bike right now. My Bike has a total of 2722 miles on it as it sits. I replaced the transmission that was on the bike with the rebuilt one when it had around 2000 miles more or less. I never had any issues with it nor did I abuse it in anyway. I will sell it as is for $2,500 shipped. If you are interested let me know.

Is it a Baker DSSC? From what everyone is saying, that is the only one that will bolt right up without modifications.

I was looking into that Hman, but the ones with more knowledge than me said modifications would have to be made in order to fit a tranny other than Baker DSSC

Yes sir that is what I found out about the bolt pattern if a different tranny and the primary would need to be changed out.

Thanks fellas for all the advice. I did get a tranny from Little- Boo. Was contacted today and was told the bike is ready. Thanks again for all the help.

She back on the road again, thanks fellas for the help and thank you Little-Boo for the transmission. New rear tire and bearings, new used tranny. No leaking. Rode her home from the shop, about 30+ miles with no problems.
