2003 chopper rear foot pegs and seat

Just bought an '03 BD chopper, first BD & loving it. I'm thinking about adding rear pegs and a different seat for the wife to ride with me. Do i need to buy BD Pegs & Clevis or will 3rd party work? I think i need to bring them a few inches to stay out of the way of the exhaust, like another member did on here with his supertrapp. Also i know the rear fender was customized, will a 2 up BD seat still fit?

Howdy and welcome from Missouri.
Call Eric and see what he has for seats, and check out BadAss seats. Hearing slot of good things about them.
As far as pegs, you can put any thing back there. If Eric doesn't have any for the 03's I can make you some to match. Eric can give you my phone number.

Thanks for insight mr wright. A lot of work done on it for sure. Badass seats, are they outta michigan? i'll check them out. I think they relocated the turn signals to the foot peg locations, so i may have to rethink the rear foot pegs...or move the turn signals. Either way i have to do something w/ the seat for highway, i love the look, but its all i can do to hang on...makes for some uncomfortable rides.

Hey 03Chopper, can't help ya out but just want to say that is a very nice looking chopper. Welcome to tapatalk.

Thank you carefree!!! I'm a little worried a factory seat from Eric wont fit, the bobber seat that is on there is totally custom. Any idea what holds the factory BD seat on? just a front clip? anyone have a pic before i buy one? RT frame

I don't see where you would mount rear pegs. Can't tell from the picture, but looks like there is no place to bolt them on. I guess you could clamp them to the frame. But that would most likely mess up the paint.

Welcome from Texas looks real good love them drag bars.they go great with that springer. The old seat mount had a shot right were the tank ended and seat started. With all the custom work done on that it was prolly cut off, When they started modifying frame.

Thank you Texas! I think the brakes / turn signals are mounted in the rear peg mounts at least thats how it appears...i'll have to figure something out. Either way i gotta do something w/ that seat even for one person highway speeds are scary.... ok so the seat has a hook after the tank it slides into? i'll take a pic and post it.

posted a pic above of the turn signals/ brake lights, i think that is where the rear passenger pegs are meant to be, right?

in that first picture, it appears to me that support bracket is there just to hold the fender. doubt if it would support a passenger.

Does this actually have a Big Dog VIN? It It does the previous owner customized the heck out of it, not much left that is really big dog related. Cool bike though!

Your going to have a problem finding a seat that fits, we don't have any that would probably fit correctly as you mention. Really it comes down to that rear fender is not stock and how mounts and aligns with the frame. So you might have to get something custom fabricated. We might be able to find you a used seat that you could try and figure out how to modify it to fit your particular scenario.

I can't tell by pics, but is it welded to the swingarm at all?

Yes big dog vin, i checked, but yes there is little that is big dog on it, except for the frame. The fender is welded on the sides & bolted on the top. I think i am give up on the 2 up seat, i dont think the supports are there, and its just too much work to relocate the turns signals etc. I do have to change the seat though, i may try putting taller springs in to see if it changes the angle. Or any suggestions on a different bobber style seat? something with more angle to hold the rider in. If not i will have to go to local shop and get it custom fabricated, issue is due to corona most everyone around here is closed!

Little late to the party, but...

I have a set of the 03 style passenger pegs. I'll get you some pics. And yes, they mount where your taillights are mounted.

it appears there is just a hinge at the bottom of the tank, is that all the factory seat mounted to?
Okay so your seat mount has already been modified from stock so there really is no seat other than a shock style solo seat

I can play around with an option for you but it won't be anything to just bolt on would require some additional work and maybe some fabrication on your part. But I I think I got an idea that would be better for ya.

Here's the stock mount. Which no longer exists on your bike. The seat tab would slide in and yours is gone and now has a horizontal through hole for a pivot bolt basically.

I can help you with any modifications you need to do. As far the passenger seat. If you think your fender is welded to the swing arm good enough, to ride the size chic your going to ride, check out Badass seats on the internet.
