Exhaust help please.

I finally decided to purchase a set of LAF's. First off I'm not a mechanic, but I do know how to turn wrenches. I removed the stock pipes, and loosely mounted the new pipes, see pic 1. Of the two mounting brackets, pic 2, one looks like it could mount to the two bolts in pic 3 and 4. Before I go any further i would like confirmation that this is correct. I don't want to make a rookie mistake. Also, if this is correct, is there a torque spec on these bolts? I'm sure I will have more questions as I go along so let me say thanks in advance.

Yea. I just got them hanging there, a couple of turns on the head bolts.

That spec is for the bolts in pic 3 & 4, not the exhaust nuts

That is the transmission bearing door...BWG is exactly correct. 16 ft.lbs with blue locktite.

Not if you just remove those 2 to attach the bracket, did they send longer bolts? you might wanna get longer bolts because you might not have enough thread engagement .

No remove top bolt and loosen the bottom one that's why the bracket is notched it will slide behind loosened bolt

Ahhh...that bracket is no good for a recessed bolt. Youll never get that bracket to work and gokd the trap door like it is meant to unless you change to a flange hex bolt which is pointless.

Don't use that bracket just the bolt holding the two pipes together will be sufficient. They are tiny.

Plus that bracket isn't even chrome and doesn't look pretty.

Ker even said get a longer bolt! So I know he looked at it.

I was pondering that too from what dentdude36 said above. His came with a bracket to hold the pipes together. I could modify this bracket and mill the arm off.

I see this second chrome bracket. Does that reach from the trap door? How would that mount to the pipes?

Does it reach? That would work with a longer bolt..

When I place the other bracket behind the pipes, where they would bolt to the pipes, the long arm does not seem to place anywhere obvious to match up to anything.

Good advice...1/4" longer. Too easy to strip the threads.

I believe I did read that in some applications the bracket doesn't work, do the back of the pipes have a section to slide squared studs in? I could send you the bracket I have I'm not using the pipes

Yes. The back of the pipes takes bolts with a square heads. They match up to the pattern shown on the picture of the two brackets.

If that chrome bracket does fit it should mount to one of the same bolts you had with the other bracket.

If it doesn't reach I would just cut the arm off and bolt the two pipes together.

I have the FSD exhaust which is longer, larger and much heavier and they are free floating. Just bolt together.

My yaffe crack pipes are quite longer than laf and they have no bracket nor do they even bolt together

Thanks for all the responses. I will proceed without mounting, I will modify the bracket to bolt the two together, but to the housing. I appreciate everyone's time.

Just out of curiousity, how much did you pay for those pipes? i've been thinking of getting that style on my K9.
