my heim joints are giving me grief - I think it has been said on here you can use Harley ones and they're better - does anyone know what size they are or parts number etc please?

Many thanks

NOTE !

Hey Lee.

Just keep in mind that if you are running a factory Bigdog Shift-Linkage, the "Heim Joints" are opposite threads. Meaning one screws in clockwise and one screws counter-clockwise.

This way it can be adjusted to the rider.

well landmark makes one of the best jts from what I have been told. BUt we need male jts and they sell females.

I say you got 2 options. I got a spare shifter linkage with heims that I could send ya. Or use this as a reason to get a new shifter linkage. My wicked image linkage with links is sweet and their heims (rumored to be landmark anyway) are silky smooth.

suposedly BDM has made some upgrades when it comes to the heim joints. I just bought 2 from Full House Cycle for around $10.75 each. Sgt. Fury's started acting up after we got caught in the rain storm on the Annapolis ride. Pretty cheap to replace. Harley etc. wont work as Gas man said, we have male threads one in each direction. Good luck:D

thanks gents and thanks for the offer Chris

I'll think I'll just get some new BDM heims for now and see how that goes.

Thanks again - appreciate the help

Hey Lee, look on eBay Item number: 230250075846 are the right hand thread and you can go to Bryke Racing Parts or search eBay for brykeracing. His are less than 10 bucks with shipping and they don't have the teflon bearings in them. Oh they are 5/16" male thread on left and one right hand. I bought my last one from him so far no problems.

Hey Kickstart, does anybody know what the difference is between the old and the new? It would be interesting to know what changed.

thanks boys - I got the new parts ordered from Nelson - you don't even want to know what the shipping charges are to the UK if I want them to get here before hell freezes over

Tell us.

Have you thought of e-mailing BD and ask if they would send a few to you.

I asked Big Dog a simple question by email once - just wanted a simple answer - their reply..."Big Dog motorcycles are not certified for sale outside the US - we cannot help you." The bloke who did the work on my bike to get it certified for use in the UK got a similar response on a couple of questions. Thats fine with me and i'm not ranting about them but I've not bothered with them since.

What a bunch of wankers those guys at BDM for not helping you...
it is what it is I guess although it is a bit disappointing

luckily for me I have Andy who is a quality mechanic and only 40 miles away - also, of course, I found you lot without whom life would have been a lot more difficult - thanks to all of you - you're all top notch in my book  now I've done my ass kissing lets get things back to normal - you're all a bunch of wankers :D
