HAVE TO PUSH HARD

Would anyone know why when I go to start the Dog I have to push the start button way to hard. If I don't it doesn't seem to make contact. I have wire plus installed and it's an 04 Chopper carb. Anyone else have this issue?

Looks like you may need to replace your board and silicone in your hand controls. They are pricy though but Derek and Donna may have these. Also check ebay, I see these all the time for sale from ebay member shovelheadkicker.

take the switch apart ,it has a carbon "button" that makes contact with the circuit board.
(just like a TV remote).
clean the board with alcohol , or other contact cleaner , wipe off the carbon button , put it back together.

Thanks for the info. Will try that. But now I have to fix the brake light wire. broke off. And how do you get it off the other side of the control? I don't see a set screw. And it don't pull out.

In my '07 the switches (and all the PCB's I've seen so far) are metal domes that contact the circuit board, not carbon "buttons". To clean the contacts one would have to remove the PCB, remove the protective layer that holds the domes to the PCB, then scrub off the connections.

Well an update on my start button. Mine did have the carbon type button. I cleaned it as mentioned but still no workie. So I guess its time to look for a replacement.

Yours didn't look like this once you took the buttons and rubber piece off?

PS Yeah, I know this is the left but the only real difference is the front brake switch...
they changed the design from 04 to 05. The 05+ are a nice crisp, firm button. The 04 is not a great setup. Also the rubber boot itself on the 04 has the paint and lettering on it directly not the plastic style buttons in 05.

They are pricey because they bid on there own stuff to jack the price up.they use different alias to do this, they don't get back to you because they are to busy trying to be on top of what there selling and bidding on
When you tell them.what you want they will sometimes act like I'll call you back, they will list it and bid on it and if they win there own bid you being the highest bidder your get your second chance bid and this is fact
