For crying out loud! Can someone tell me what kind of puller to use to get the wheel bearings out of my 07 K9 rear wheel. I rented a slide hammer unit from autozone and even heated up the aluminum housing and used the slide hammer until I turned blue - what is the trick. Please someone that has actually removed these chime in...

Pull the hubs then press them out from the back side.

Yup, what Sul said! You can tap them out with an old socket but when you put them back in be sure to use a socket that only hits on the outer race of the bering, if you tap on the inner race you will most likely ruin the berings, also be sure you get them seated all the way in, there is a thread in the how to section on how to take measurements to check that.

Someone can jump in if I am mistaken but I understand that you should line up and reinstall the hubs to exact the same holes to avoid adversely affecting the wheel runout.

Match mark everything before you take it apart. I would not remove or install bearings with anything other than a press.
Check this out http://www.bigdogbiker.com/threads/wheel-bearings-2007-big-dog-k9.73200/page-6#post-682114 there is more to it than just changing the bearings and don't adjust the belt too tight.
I did mine without a press, but you are right kickstart! You really should use a press to do it! I probably should have, but I am sure I did not screw them up and they are seated all the way in! If you are not very mechanically inclined then do not attempt to do what I did!:oldnono: Go have someone press them in like kickstart said!:old2:

I'll be buying a press to do them next time myself. Harbor Freight has a decent floor press for about $100 which is almost what I paid last time to get the bearings pressed in

I don't use a press when installing the bearings and have had no issues after installation. I use a Tusk bearing removal tool to remove them though.

I am gonna check that out Eric, I still have to change the front, I got the berings here but I was gonna wait until I replace my front tire!
