Lol this really sucks I go from cool to dork in 0.2 seconds.. It starts back up after a minute or so till the next time it happens.. Runs great then it dies and sounds the horn so everybody can point and laugh:down:

That sucks but it is a little funny, sounds like you have a short in some wiring, some one with better electrical knowledge will chime in, but I like that you have a good sense of humor about it.

Check your wiring in your controls, sounds like your grounding the on/off switch to the horn.

I have heard of bad batteries causing this same thing, as RRRUFF mentions above. How old is your battery?

I'm with the guys about the battery. Check your connections and make sure it's good. Also disconnect that horn and take it off the bike, you'll gain 3 Hp, and horns are for guys with quiet pipes.

I had the same thing happen. I found a loose connection on my battery so I tighten it and it stopped then about a month later it did it again. I bought a new battery since that one was 5yrs old and it has not done it since!! Battery tender on them every night will help also!

I actually honked my horn on the dog last night at a girl. I could not hear the horn honking over my Madusa pipes. AND I WASN'T EVEN AT 1/4 THROTTLE!!!!

Well, it's hijack this thread, or start a new "How dorky/gay are our horns" thread. Decisions decisions.

My bike is doing the same thing now. Battery is full charge. Also have 13.8v once it starts. Had a brand new battery and it does the same. It won't run more than 10 minutes and shuts down and horn honks again. All the lights come on the EHC. Turn key off and then on. All lights on EHC and horn honks. Disconnected the negative cable and left overnight. Hooked the cable back up and everything normal again. Runs anywhere from 5-10 minutes and then shutsdown again and horn honking. (12,000 miles)Any ideas would be appreciated.

check ALL your ground connections, then check ALL your positive connections. If that don't do it check all your wiring under the tank for smashed wires.

Troubleshot the bike all day for it shutting down and horn honking. It appears to be the resistor in the horn relay. Removed the resistor and now all appears to be fine.

The horn relay is velcro attached to your left hand side electrical cover. Just pull the resistor out of the end of the relay. The only thing is your horn won't work now. Let me know how you make out.
