Nothing Important Just Venting!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just can't believe the customer service from BDM Performance. Let me go into the full story before I get ahead of myself.
I pull my Wolf out to start some deep detailing. To my complete horror and disgust I see that all the chrome on my front wheel has popped. Totally flaking off. The deeper I get into the cleaning I find that chrome is coming off of my forward control, rear wheel, fly wheel, right rear turn signal and a trim piece. After shaking the sickness in my belly I decide to call BDM. First call to parts went like this....Big Dog has closed their doors. (which we all know.) Then alot of liberal laughing from the parts man and his fellow henchmen. Then they hang up. Of course now it's personal. Call number 2. Yeah, Yeah. So sorry let me transfer you to my supervisor. That would have been great except he didn't pick up and his voice mail was full. Call number 3-6 left alot of messages. Call number 7. Kept my cool up until the woman I spoke with called me "Hun" dripping with sarcasm by the way, one to many times! To some it up she says the only warranty 6 months paint and chrome. And since the Wolf is an 09 I'm **** outta luck. Even though there is only 1200 miles total on my bike. I can honestly say that I have never been treated with so much disrespect and rudeness in my life! I was hoping they would want to at least stand behind their parts. But alas, I guess not........ How can a company restructure with customer service like that. Sorry, to vent in this way, but I'm still stunned by all of this! So I guess I'm gonna eat all of the cost for the re-chroming. Guys if it's gonna happen to someone it will happen to me.

This came directly from BDM's main office! I skipped the dealer and tried to talk to someone that could give me answers. What was I thinking??????

You got 2 years more out of your chrome than I did. Mine started flaking off in 06, 3 years before you got your bike...
BDM iz long gone and so is your warranty.

Well...you gat further than I would have if that happend to my Wolf. I'd still be in the garage wiping away the tears or wiping my ass with all the dollars wasted. Total bummer. Any idea what happened? Wrong cleaner? Any pix to share? Heck...at least your 2009 had more warranty life than my 2010!)

Back to the issue. When the Big Dog went down the shitter and the dust settled, I was partly pissed, partly understanding and partly not concerned.

Understanding. Yep..tough to make EPA bikes these days.
Pissed. WTF could a company go bankrupt, yet keep their assets and start another company?
Not concerned. I have a rockstar dealer who is willing to work with the individual part companies (Baker/S&S/etc).

The obvious f-up in the above scenario is paint/chrome. I wouldn't expect BDM to do much....yet I would expect them to talk to you about possible options (giving you paint color codes/resources to assist/OEM part manufacturers/plating company information). That sucks as I've rec'd extremely good customer service from BDM. Perhaps you can send them a pizza for lunch tomorrow if they help point you in the right direction?

Let us know how things pan out.

I'll get picks on here soon. I had to walk away and not look anymore. As far as cleaners go I always use s-100 on all the bikes with no problems at all. Totally understand the fealings you had. But mine went from understanding to pissed. Totally pissed that is. I haven't reached not concerned yet. I totally agree with how they can go bankrupt then start another company! I'm heading 3 hours away to a great dealer who's gonna try to take care of it. But I'm not holding my breath for BDM's help! Yeah, I was expecting some sugggestions or at least a lead. But instead I was laughed at and hung up on before I could ask any questions! And BBCHOPPER you are so correct. Warrenty is out the window. Keep your fingers crossed for me cause when I see the repair bill I'll probably drop right there in my tracks!

Sorry bout your bike...but what part of Big Dog Motorcycles going outta buisness dont you guys understand.......BDM Performance parts has nothing to do with your bike...on top its a freakin 2009,thats 3 years old....2 years past chrome warranty I do believe.....So even if they were still in buisness you wouldnt get no play...no matter who you think you are and how much money you spent....it sucks but thats the way it is.....

Now had you wanted to purchase a T-shirt $35 or hat for $28 I'm sure they would have played much nicer in their sandbox!!!!! :argue:

Best thing to do is just move on. Get it fixed (don't think about the Benjamen's) and ride. After a few rides you'll forget all about it. I know it sucks, dwelling on it isn't going to help. Now that you've vented, spend your money elsewhere for the parts you need.

4 yrs ago, I had my frame recall done. When I dropped it off at Strokers I took pictures all over of my bike, When the bike arrived back from BD, there was a gash in the front fender. BigDog claimes no responsability and even Strokers said, it was not there when it left Dallas. But it was there when it returned. BD never came good with the repairs. I had it fixed locally for $750.00. Also 3 weeks ago when I put my new shocks on, I noticed the frame paint under the bike was pealing off. This next weekend I am going to put the bike up on the lift, sand the frame down underneath and reprime and repaint it myself.

Im sure the paint is flaking off from your bike bottoming out on the road. Once it starts its gonna continue. Its unfortunate how the laws work with companys that go bankrupt. They should have to stand behind warranty's

Totally understand that Big Dog is outta business. I was hoping for some info maybe or how can we help. But what really got me going was the customer service and over all bad attitude. And they warranty on paint and chrome is only 6 months. So I was told anyway. Oh well, I just got put my big girl panties on and get it fixed....the correct way!
