anyone rockin apes on a pitbull. I've been looking at carlini flyin apes (1 1/2's). they look like they might work as far as the width and pull back are concerned but the diameter at the controls are worrying me. any thoughts.

Bill - If you find a pair of bars that you want to use, you can cut off the ends of your BD bars and swamp them over to the apes. I like my K9 bars and coverted to HD controls, so I cut off the ends and swapped them.

To each his own but not for me. They can't be comfortable on a long ride and certainly can't be as safe. I've never rode a bike with them anyway so it's just an opinion, so maybe others who have ridin' with them could better say. I personally don't like the look on any bike.

I had 16" apes on my HD Heritage and it lookes fuckin' great!Slow turns were actually easier than w/ drag bars after a short transition period. And there were NO problems with riding distances either.Apes make MOST bikes look cool!I'd get them again...and actually I'm looking for slightly higher bars for my '05 BDM Chopper. My arm position w/ the OEM bars is TOO low.

Got any pictures of the Heritage with the bars?

I made these apes for my roadstar, rise is somewhere around 20" and it's no problem at all. Takes a day to get used to them, but no handling issues fast or slow and they are far from unsafe. I have a 16" rise on my roadstar in AZ and I put ridiculous miles on that thing, plenty of 500+ mile days and never an issue with comfort. I think they look good on the low bikes, but like anything else it's all about what YOU like. One bit of advice, make sure you get fat bars, 1.25" minimum or they will look puny on the bike.
