What would you like to see BDM do for the model year 2012?

For you to buy a new Big Dog (if you could) what are you looking for in this new scoot?

BDM reads your posts and takes all your thoughts into consideration and in fact, some of you will see your previous posting's in the near future.

So, put it out there and lets see what we wind up with.

I would like to see more bad ass tank designs like my mMastiff has. there is no finer flowing tank than that. Some of the tanks are to plain. Also put the gas tank opening on the highest point when it is on the kickstand.

Your thoughts?

I'm not sure I'd go new right now but I'd dang sure go for some new accessories! I'm talking all sorts of stuff from tanks to wider tire kits (if possible). Big Dog should double their accessories right now to capture the existing market. IMO, they are missing out on a potential gold mine. I'd much rather spend a thousand or two right now in stead of 25K to 30K. Just sayin....

I second that ... just trying to find different sizes control extensions (beside the 2.5"), can't. We are all addicted, more choices in accessories and options would help us create our own one of a kind

how about the drain plugs that are better accessable for all us do-it-yourself-ers...Tranny is the worst on my K9....and how about a built in tool/hidden tray under the battery tray. een thinking about fabbing my own.

higher quality kick stand
adjustable ignition system
metal side covers..(instead of plastic)
use std hand controls ( use HD style)
use std foot pegs
no ehc...
heaver gauge wire harness through out the bike
higher quality wheel berrings
optional springer front ends
better water proofing elect connectors plugs
I'm sure I could come up with more..

Here is my list (since I have a Mastiff, I lean towards it as a flagship model)

I would like to see something like the Mastiff's tank but maybe 2 more gallons of gas (same shape on tank),
the bigger S&S engine,
a lower seat with a less sharp kick up on the seat back, plus better seat foam or option of factory gel insert,
better designed headlight (get rid of the retaining ring method, it sucks),
put the headlight on a fuse so we can run the higher wattage bulbs if we want to (Jakes HID will NOT work on my bike),
redesign the instruments (any model),
flush gas tank cap.

All the current soft-tails they make need a redesigning of the rear fender. Side view, the fenders don't look like they follow the curve of the wheel.

I probably would buy a Wolf IF it had a wider rear tire and/or a EVO (read that as no x-wedge) engine.

I would probably buy bags for my Mastiff IF they were reasonably priced. Plus, I don't like the wrap-around bar they have done to mount the tag. Plus, bags need to be lockable to keep cops out of them. Not that I carry anything, but if not locked, they are fair game for a search with no warrant. The $1500.00 for what BDM is offering is ridiculous. Yes, I have seen the bags in person.

Punish a dealer (not going to name it, but I do live in Tulsa) that let a bike out the door after plugging a rear tire and leaving 120 psi in the tire. (I complained to factory, they said it was not anything they can say anything about). I had specifically said and paid for the tire to get patched on the inside, not plugged.

I will add more things later if this thread stays alive.

What he said! Hand controls and pegs, no real biggie. But ditto on the metal side covers, adios to the EHC, higher gauge harness and better quality wheel bearings. Knotso had a good idea for the tanks, as well. Better clutch and stronger cables also come to mind. And someone else mentioned more accessories, to which I definitely agree! (BD seems like they're losing their ass on this potential market! I want soooo much more than just one or two options! Pegs, grips, etc.) Was also thinking about pipes. Might be kinda hard to provide a plethera of options, but a few would be nice. Don't know about the rest of us, but if BD made it and it was equal or superior to everyone else, I'd buy it first before shopping elsewhere. Overall, though, the bikes are amazing!

Different headlight assembly, something like Adjure offers. There was an eight week lead time to get a replacement bucket. No tools required to change out a bulb assembly on the Adjure. Get rid of the EHC and yes, I agree with the rest of ya'll make parts available. I think the company would survive by parts alone...:2thumbs:

I'd like to see the rest of the progression of the line when it began with the 08 Pit, lead next to the new Wolf and BullDog and would eventually get to the mastiff... I.e. taller wheels (20 in the back, 23 in the front), nice stretched tank (especially to cover that ugly exposed frame neck), and stick with the 300 rear. I love my pit and with all the shake and bake I get on it I still would not trade it for anything xcept the "next" mastiff (as above). Cheers.

Digital speedo, better headlight design w/HID,fuel gauge, 124 s&s, open primary option. And yeah, new mastiff design. A great dane design 23" front 20" on back; with wide ass 330, now that would be a BIG DOG. Just dreamin.

It would be nice to have a better gas cap-one where I could fill the tank and not have it run back down the tank.

Better quality/design on accessories--my expensive saddlebags had a poor design on the right side(wouldn't clear the standard axle cap. I had to put in the correct relief to correct the problem. I even had the bags back to the factory to show them first hand the problem, and just got a band aid fix.

External Oil temp for the K-9---sitting in traffic, it would be hard to watch the temp if it was under the seat.

103 cui S&S shovelhead, tankshifter, standard rake, hardtail, some type of bags. Basically I want to see a retro EL style with a modern powerplant.
