K9 vs. Honda Fury...?

Yeah, and that guy in the Fury vs. Big Dog - VTXOA thread really gets me when he states that the Big Dog is loud, and is only good going straight.

What a fucktard!

Guess he doesn't know that Big Dogs come from the factory meeting EPA standards, hence are quiet, and they handle the twisties just fine. Plus, If one really wanted to blast thru the twisties, they'd get a crotch rocket, NOT a chopper, of ANY manufacturer.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, like the guy that thinks the Big Dog is ugly, but sheesh! At least stick to the facts people!

I'd much rather buy a used Big Dog if price was an issue for getting a chopper, or perhaps even a Big Bear kit bike.

I think what you mean is, "the Fury is a great bike for someone who can't wrench on a motorcycle, and wants a chopper.":D
Shit, there are plenty of BDM owners who can't wrench on their bikes so...

Did any one see the fugly couple on this site. Fury vs. Big Dog - VTXOA.
Of course they talk shit about the Big Dog. Explaining to someone like them why you would buy a BDM over the much cheaper Honda, besides the WOW factor of the BDM, is like explaining to a snail how an internal combustion engine works.
The comment about the Honda having cutting edge technonlogy well it damn well better. Just like an ugly chick will cook, clean and suck a mean d*ck. The Honda has to offer something to make up for it's short comings.
That's why I'll happily eat my ole ladies shitty cooking.
It offers a $13k price tag so, that will make up for plastic fenders, small motor and other short comings for many.

I think it's great that a major manufacturer actually produced and is selling a chopper. Fuck, this is something Harley should have done YEARS ago. Dump the ugly ass Rocker and build a chopper for the masses.

Those who want a chopper/custom, and can afford one, will probably opt for a Big Dog or other custom. Those on tighter budgets my go with the cheaper Fury. Get want you want and fuck everyone else.

Those guys on the VTX forum who bashed the BD probably can't afford one and bitch to compensate.

:iagree: I couldn't agree more actually. I bet if they had though the HD faithful would have been somewhat split over it with half claiming it wasn't in the real spirit of a true chopper. Kind of how so many didn't accept the V-Rod as a true HD initially. Like you said, everyone should buy what works for them.

WONDER HOW THE FURBY WOULD HANDLE MY CAMPING GEAR?

I ALSO DOUBT ANYONE WILL SHOW UP AT A BIKER EVENT ON A FURBY...

STILL, MANY WILL BUY IT JUST 'CAUSE IT IS A HONDA.

Truth be known, I got 2 honda atv's in my garage, one we have had for 20 years and still on the original motor, the other I have owned for 22 years and is far from stock, yet both are so freaking reliable.

Those that will buy the honda will be the same ones who will tell you 10 years ago that the V-twin would never be popular and will fade away with a few left over in museums.

All those articles are being written by journalists who work for mags that recieve virtually no advertising dollars from BDM, so what else would you expect them to say?

The first one I catch on the interstate will quickly understand why the Big Dog's cost more, and I hope I am loaded to the hilt with camping gear and someone else's missing wife on the back :)D)

The Honda Hoot sounds like the ultimate RUB event.
Marco, what do they do at the Honda Hoot? Is it like the Redwood run?

I think they could offer the Honda 'Furby' as a demo rider at MSF Rider Courses for people who have or are intersted in getting a REAL (aka- expensive) chopper. It might be a good segway into learning some of the riding nuances of a stretched/raked machine:eek::whoop:. That's about all I can see it being good for, and it would sure beat the Honda Rebels and dirt bikes typically offered at MSF classes...IMO

In my ridning group, there is an 18 year old kid. He got a new Fury today. He was happy as hell grinning from ear to ear, and I was happy as hell for him. I rode it about 10 miles or so. Nice bike. Hear are the things that stuck out. The hand controls are the worst I've seen. Im talking mid 1990s powerwheels cheap. The exhaust (which everyone will ditch anyway) is very puny looking and quite, the welds at the neck were very noticible or ugly. It rode very well, going down the rode and turns. I rode a 08 K9 and as far as turning (slow speed and curves) they handle NOTHING alike. Not that one was better, but different. All in all, it is nice for what it is and there is an 18 year old kid that is top of the world, and I am proud for him.

I have heard many on here, motorcycle shops, magizines, and other websites attempt to justify the plastic fenders, plastic head covers, and plastic side covers and small 1300 motor by the price of $12-$13 thousand. Here is my problem with that. The Raider, relatively the same price has no plastic parts and 1900 engine.

And I'm sure that 18 year old kid will get some serious ass with that bike, girls his age won't care who built it... lucky bastard.

Now, if he doesn't knock one of those chicks up, I'm sure he'll move to a BDM or other custom when he gets the chance.

He's a good kid. Been dating the same little girl for 4 years. He graduates from NADC next week. Wants to be a custom painter. I gave him a link to Eds myspace, he was mind blown. IT was cool, he was like "man, people are staring at me, and waving and honking thier horns." I said yep, it only gets better. He's not niave, he knows it is far from a big dog, but for where he is in life, it is just right.

No idea KnotSo, never been. All I know is that it was the annual Honda owners gathering but I heard they canceled it due to the economy. But no, I think it's safe to say that it's nothing like the Redwood Run. Something tells me your more likely to find lemonade and face painting for the kids then you are to find Rays junk flopping around at a Hoot.:lol::lol:

I think the Fury is a great bike for someone who can't afford a Big Dog, and wants a chopper. 13k is cheap, but you can now find KILLER deals on used and left over dogs that make it tough to pass on one and opt for a Fury.

If money is really tight, and someone doesn't mind a metric, the Fury is a great deal. Me, I'd save and pick up a used Dog if I was in that situation. Our Dogs are true customs to me. :2thumbs:
Yeah but like you said... many barely used big dogs for $15k or less for the older ones. So I guess its

$15k for used bdm with more power and looks with maintance needed

$13k for a new honda fury with no power and less looks

Your choice.

So ridin down PCH in cali on sat and saw one. Wow, what a weird lookin bike. Very small, very quiet. My buddies 67' motoguzzi looked bigger and better. Anyway, glad I got the dog. if I get another bike its a bobber.............

Shoulda had Peter Fonda test riding the K9:whoop:and Pee Wee Herman on the Furby:moped:...now THAT would have made the article for me! Yep, I can picture the Furby with handlebar streamers like Pee Wee had on his "wonder bike"!:willy_nilly::yesnod:
