Wheel Bearings

Got my new rear tire in today, and have yet been able to find any wheel bearings. The big Dog dealer in Vegas says that BDM is out of stock and they are on backorder. Went to the Timken website to see who has the bearings in Vegas. Called the single reference dealer and they said they no longer carry Timken. Any one have any suggestions. I do see many 6205 RS bearing on the interent, but I am sure they are the wrong ones, which are off by .4MM. Would local INDy have them even though they mostly service HD?

If I cant find some soon, I will just throw in some extra grease and remount with the current bearings. 10,000 and the rear look good. Have not pulled the front tire off yet to see how they look.

Rhino, how many you need? Are you doing rear or front or both. I have 3 in stock now but won't be doing my rear tire till after the Smoke Out run next month.
I can send them to you in the morning. Again, I only have three for the rear wheel.

I need 3 for the rear. The front are different right. I have not pulled the front tire but am thinking thet are 6204's??? Also is there any problems with the front bearings like there is with the rear (25mm vs 25.4mm) for the same 6205 labeled bearings??

Don't know about the 02's but the 05's are all the same. Again in my How To thread on changing the front tire I had the 6204. RSJ and they were not the right ones as they fit a HD axle. They were to large, the axle had to much slop when installed.
Don't know what the requirements were for your 02 though!

You might contact Nelson and have him look them up for you. But I can send you the three I have if you need.

These didn't fit:

Just a heads up so you dont make a mistake...A 6205 has an inner diameter of 25mm. Your axle is not 25mm, it is 1 inch or 25.4mm. So if you went and got a standard off the shelf non modified or non special application 6205, it will not fit. The outer diameter and thickness are spot on, the inner diameter of a standard 6205 bearing sealed, shielded or otherwise, will not work with a standard BD rear axle.

Rear wheel bearing part number

Timken/Fafnir 205KDD2

I paid $23.73 each

What do you mean they are all the same for 05...all 6204???? My rears are 6205 (25.4mm)
Whooooo, I said the 6204's were not the right ones. You might have the right ones in the 6205's but I can't confirm that. I also cannot confirm that your 02 has the same size bearings that the newer models have.
But I have three that I can send you if you know the the 02's are the same as the 05's.

This post from Loafington discuss's the 6205's!

And save your money and don't bother with ABEC 3 bearings, you're wasting your money for a higher than needed precision bearing. If you plan on doing your own research for a bearing, make sure that the one you choose has the same or better ratings as the original. I don't mean ABEC scale, I mean temperature range, load rating, seal type, etc...

Well, I'm not having any luck finding where to buy the bearings you all have mentioned for the wheels. Can you paste a link please? My new rear tire is on the way and I would like to install new bearings. I need them for a 2007 K-9, front and rear if possible. Thanks for any direction.

Any local industrial shop should have them if they are a Timken/Fafnir dealer. I use Applied Industrial Technologies.

Thanks, I'll try that route. My local BDM dealer told me that the stock one's are on back order for who knows how long. Piss on those POS's, I'll find some better ones for sure. My front one's squeal for about a mile and then stay quiet after they heat up. I'm getting ready for a long ride to the coast next month and I just don't think the OEM's are going to make it. I sure hope I can find them. Just for clarification, can you post the front and rear model numbers for a 2007 K-9. Thanks. :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:
