Just ordered a tool bag from Beezer and will be sending Seatmaker my seat and pillon, any suggestions on how to protect them in Sturgis from theft, other than not taking them or the obvious alarm....

Thanks
Shane

Been there 6 times and never had a problem down town or at a campsite. Big bap full of cameras, leather jacket draped over the handlebars or seat.

When I was in Sturgis last year I had no worries at all. Just park next to a more expensive bike and don't worry about it. :2thumbs:

Not to mention that a proximity alarm is not going to work in Sturgis unless you are out in the boonies where nobody wants to go anyway!

:whoop:

But trust me they were going off every 10 ft and aggrevating everyone!!

This is Sturgis Main St as many of you know and have seen. It's like this in all the local towns, campgrounds. hotels, bars, gas stations, you name it.

Oh by the way, it's well advertised also that there are plenty of (what do they call them?) target bikes set up by the cops just to temp the thieves. And you can see everyone leaves there gear on their bikes.

I had my insurance and registration stolen from my bag last year in Wildwood, NJ. No idea why anyone would want that crap, but just don't keep anything important in there!

Thanks guys:up: , I've been there twice, and never had a problem, but I didn't have the dog... didn't know if there might me extra steps.

I hear ya on the alarms, every ones were going off.:bang:

And I'd take my .45 too Gas:2thumbs: , but I like to drink a few....they kinda frown on that out there...booze and bang stick.:)

I will secure my shit some how, just to make it "not so easy"....

Drink a lot beer and you wont even think about it  . If they want it, they will get it. Standard biker etiquette applies for the gear!

Sturgis seems more safe than my local bike shop where some fu**** took my pillion pad while I was inside for 15 min. I ended up using the chevy negative battery cable to tie down the front seat. It's in a thread here somewhere....

I seen that, and plan on doing that. I am worried about someone hocking my damn pillon though, not just at Sturgis either.

Hey Shane, Whatcha do is when you get your new custom stuff just drill a hole in each item just big enough for a cable lock, Then thread the cable through all the holes and the frame of your bike and then through the frame of your buddy's bike parked next to you! Simple! Be sure to use a BIG padlock! Oh, and don't lose the key in One Eyed Jacks!!

Just tryin' to be helpful, Shovelcowboy:cheers:

Oh, I forgot to mention. WHATEVER YOU DO (while partying downtown Sturgis) DON'T EVER park your bike in a 'handycap zone'! The f--king cops will tow (lift up) your dog, impound it and you will have to pay a stiff impound fee and then a parking violation fee (and they may even damage your bike in the process)!

If it sounds like I've "been there done that" your are right. You ain't lived until you walk out of One Eyed Jack's at 2 am after a great time, shitfaced and NO MOTORCYCLE! Money-grubbing C--ksuckin MF--kin sturgis (or most any rally city) payin for all their hired cops!

HANDYCAP ZONE! HANDYCAP ZONE! YOU KIDDING ME! HANDYCAP ZONE??!!:bang:

Kinda like John Mora's Rant, Ya got me goin! Shovelcowboy

Hey Guys,
I use one of these to lock my skis and it works with my bike to protect my gear. Its a pocket lock with a 30" retractable cable. Fits in your pocket. And no keys. Works great. It won't protect it from being cut with bolt cutters, but it will stop the guy just walking buy and grabbing it.
