Depends on what you want seat! It only comes on at 4500 rpm. Do you get your motor up this high?

If you do the whole package at Zippers like I did on my 03 then you get the benefit of them opening up the passages and making it breath better.

xXx is now adding Thunderjets to his modifications if you want it.

Up to you. It does close up the time your motor goes from intermediate to main jet then to Thunderjet. Changes from 2 fuel curcuits to 3!!!

This shows the transition from one jet to another

I did it on mine. I sent my G to Zippers and they did the install, opened the carburetor bore, drilled out a new bowl vent, and some further massaging. Mine seems to comes on around 3000, not sure why its so much lower than 4500 but anyway, I thought it was worth it.

Mine comes in at about 3000 rpm aswell actually a little lower.
The reason it kicks in at that rpm is vacum.
The position of the jet effects where it kicks in abit.
So where you install it makes a diffrance allso how free you intake flows.
the better the airflow the faster it kicks in.
You can see on my dyno sheet exactly when it kicks in.

Slinger,

What were your reason(s) for installing one on yours? After my pipe and cam change, I don't think I had many choices but to go with it. The difference in flow after the pipe and cam change made mine fall on its face during the trasition from the primary to main circut. After the install, the thing is crazy. My exhaust is rather short and once the thunderjet starts pulling fuel and if you stay in it long enough, no shit fire begins to appear at the end of my exhaust pipe. Really gets peoples attention at night.

that reason alone, is worth getting a thunderjet!!!!:D :whoop: :D

I actually had a guy pull up to me at a stop light one night and tell me fire was coming out of my bike. I laughed. It is like a top fuel dragster at night, not as bad ass. Little afterburner.

Sounds like it is WAY over jetted to me. :D

I was a little concerned too, i pulled the plugs and everything looks good. It only shoots fire when youre on it hard.

I will admit that once I got my carb back from Zippers, I was concerned that the jets they installed were too much. When I sent them the carb, I gave them the run down about how I ride, any mods and shit like that. I left it up to the professionals.

Good question.
There is a lot of topics on the net about the responce of the S&S carbs.
There not well liked on some forums becuase of the slugish mid range.

There are 2 jets on the supper G carb.
One that handles the low RPM and the other main for higher RPM.
It is suggested to be slugish in mid range. from switching jets.
The third jet covers the switch and helps responce.
The thunderjet solves the slugish problem.

I also have a very modified air intake and short pipes.
Very good flow.
ThunderJet™ Fuel Kits

Product may vary from photo
ThunderJet's™ patented third fuel circuit has a built-in air correction system that permanently solves the problem of poor mid- range and/or lean top-end performance. The system can operate over a wide range of altitude and atmospheric conditions. Installation fixtures position the carb for precise drilling angle.

Like I said, the pipe is short, and it only goes into burner when youre on it and the rpm is getting up there. The plugs tell the tale, and they look good.

Owe ,OK.
Well I use the 50 which is the smallest Mikuni jet that works in there.
But you can get upwords of 120's.
So you could play with the jet size which is cheep and easy to do.
It may help you out.

Guys, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it's not a good option. I did it on my 03 and it ran great after a lot of experiementing with jets and I only got it right after having it put on a dyno with the exhaust analyzer in the pipe.

When that got done it ran very smoothly and transitioned great but the Thunderjet hardly ever came on. You can easlily tell by looking down at the blue tube to see if fuel is flowing. I just never got up to the 4000 rmp range to often.

I would consider having another one installed in my carb if I was to start over.

Not at all Ray.
I had to play with mine too.
And I don't see mine working very much either at the hose.
But I check it at the jet and it will be filled with fuel.
Also I see it in the air to fuel on my dyno sheet.
(actually when mine kicks in it's a little ritch).
But It halls ass and never pops.
So I'm happy.
