The only way to know is to ride them - but it will still be a little tough to tell from the short test ride - I rode a Hardtail and knew immediately that I was too much of a puss to ride one on shitty Michigan roads - but it was a few years older and didn't have that awesome big ass back tire which I would be willing to endure a little more discomfort for.

I love my K9 - forward controls (I am 6 4) - you can also get the seat adjusted to pull some unneeded padding in the back that will give you a little more room (my next investment).

Good luck - you will love whatever choice you make.

I love my Ridgeback because of the clean, tight, look of the rear fender. I enjoy the ride and would not give it up for a K-9.

As BDWD put it, if your a Puss, buy the K-9!!!

500 mile ride for me on my Ridged is easy! Even the wife on the back, doesn't mind!!! They are basically the same bike, just the K-9 being the soft tail version.

red, i like the clean tight look of the rear fender on my k-9 when my fat ass compresses the suspension---but my old bones don't rattle when i hit every bump.
at 6'4" the bdm extended forward controls are great. also, a custom seat can get you back a bit more for even more room. it is a big boy's bike too.
i love my k-9 and i am a puss, chuck

I wish I had more money.
If I were you go with the soft tail. With the hidden shock system alot of people will think it is rigid anyway. You will thank yourself later.

I love the new Ridgeback. But the bike you choose really needs to fit you. We can make suggestions till we are blue in the face. Ultimately it’s what feels and looks good to you.

Its a buyers market right now. You should get a good deal on either of them. You should check the prices on the 09's before you buy a 07

I agree with woodbutcher. There are some great deals on new K-9's out there. Granted you'll have to add pipes ,seat, pegs etc: but you'll pick up waranty and the peace of mind that the bike was broke in correctly...
I actually was bidding on that Black Cherry K-9 that sold near wb and for 5k more got a new one w EFI. :2thumbs:
have fun in your search...

Been riding Pitbull (ridged) 7 yrs. now without any doubt would buy a K9.

Looks are not more important than comfort in the long run.:)

Well if ya want to call me a puss go ahead. I had a rigid shovel head, while the looks were great but Louisiana rds were less than forgiving. I love my K-9, put almost 400 miles on her in a day with no problems, well other than bugs at 80 mph on I-10. Working on getting extended controls because I am 6'7" so most of the time I ride with my ankles laying on the pegs, best of luck in your search.
