Well Big House found out about this down in Mrytle from Ohmster. They had his bike on the lift for 4hrs due to this thread http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/efi-topics/4864-electric-issues.html#post77441

Anyway, your spark plug wires rub on the diamond cut and wear thru the shielding causing ALL KINDS OF HAVOC on the electronics. It can smoke the EFI ECM and your EHC.

Nomad, BigDogBro's... or anybody else with Bulldogs and diamond cut, check your wires!!!

We checked our ignition wires and they are all clamped a routed away from the fins by an inch or so. Thanks for the heads up info Gas!:cheers:

I couldn't get my K9 to run for shit when I first got it. The dealer had installed those stupid stainless braided wires which rubbed and arced off the damn heads...I know the black aren't bling bling, but they fookin work!

Just got my Bulldog back. It was in for bolt recalls and sb's and they replaced the spark plug wires.

Yeah urgent so you don't start frying stuff!

All it has is a spark plug boot that is taller to keep the wire off the diamond cut heads. Its the diamond cut that is the problem.

I beg to differ Gas. I had the rubbed spark plug wire problem this past January and I don't have diamond cut cylinders. The wires were routed out too far from the coil and actually touched the cylinder head fins in the area between the cylinders. My rear cylinder plug quit firing completely.The fix was a new set of wires and a retainer strap around both wires that keeps them from contacting the cylinder fins.

Rub or burned off?

I didn't get to make a close inspection of them so I can't confirm any burned spots. However I did clearly see the plug wire on the front cylinder was touching the top cylinder fin and had rubbed through the outer rubber coat and exposed the braided shield wiring. I took it to Stroker's in Dallas and they reported the rear cylinder would not fire due to a failed coil. I pointed out the rubbed spot and they told me about the spark plug wiring recall which they performed under warranty. Don't know for sure if the rubbing contributed to the coil failure, but I'm certain if left alone the wire would have rubbed through the shield and shorted out.

OH I'm sure that would be a bad deal... I'm uncertain to the entire scope of this recall, and I'm sure a look up on the feds site would aid in that.
