A good fuel filter

Chevy used a stone filter for years. After a long period of time it would not be able to let fuel through. We'd always take em out install an inline and chunk the cartridge. It appears that if that happens with the setup Gas has mentioned you just unscrew it take the stone out and screw it back together and your off.

Make the cut, using the dremel to cut the braided and the knife to cut the rubber

better idea is to scrap that dremel---the metal gets in the line that your trying to keep clean and cannot be removed cause it sticks to the rubber hose---use a sharp chisel and a hammer on an anvil--2 or3 strikes and your through--mask around the cut line first and there will be no stabs from the wire

Good idea... but I never cut into the rubber with the dremel... just buzzed off the braided, then cut the rubber with the knife...

Gas, Glad you haven't had any problems out of yours.

I tried the stone filter quite some time ago on mine. I felt bad not having a filter. I have to warn everyone I was one of the vapor lock victims. Mine would always shutdown like you ran out of gas while it was running. It didn't matter if you had 2 gallons left in the tank, may 3 gallons left, running down the interstate or through town. You just never knew and it was a bitch to get started (drained the battery a couple times trying). I never switched to a paper filter but did remove the stone filter and have never had a problem since. Maybe I just had a bad filter. But getting stuck on the side of the road a couple times was enough for me to take it off.

Just wanted to throw in my experience because I don't want to see anyone sitting on the side of the road like I was.

How is the filter working? I am thinking of getting one, but I wanted to see if yours was still working as well as before.

Well I ran into a problem... whether it was a bad filter or one turn too much tightening the clamps but the niple was slightly ovaled and as you can see its obviously cock-eyed...
Now the pingel does cost about $30 thru Vickie... but seems to be a much better setup from even the good little K&N.
