Front Brake Switch issue

Hey guys, My front brake has not operated my brake lights for over a year, no big deal but now I cant pass the state inspection, this is what I know, it worked prior to wire plus install, today I pulled it apart looking for a switch to fix but after reading (should have dont that first) I see its a magnet so I tried putting a magnet on the switch no luck, what my real question is how does the switch inside the lever housing get the signal to the circuit board where the wire is. I see the small allen set screw thats fine, magnet on lever is good, the plug on the circut board looks great. I just dont know if I am missing a part it looks as if a pin or something should go in the hole behind the magnet, or if I need to go back into the wireplus wires. :confused:

The magnet has to be adjusted so that it just clears the lever. Mine did what you are describing when it was new. Adjusted the magnet and it has worked since. Knock on wood !!! 09 k-9

Adjust the senso (back or forward) till it operates correctcly... It has a very small screw to hold it in place, hard to see but it's there!

LOL, I will check it out from my personal PC once I go to my quarters... for some reason here on the Office's network I can't see any pics, neither some webpages... :bang:

I am lucky enough that I can read the Forum though :D

thanks guys, I have tried everything but I cant make the lights work from the lever, they work from the back brake lever and now I am starting to think it may be a wire problem in my wire plus mod. which wire is for that seitch and which plug and pin does it go to. I think its the two orange wires in the same pin but that makes no sence that it would not work. and I dont have those wire plud directions to look at here.

Here's a quick way to check and see if it's your wiring is bad. If you have your right hand control apart. Disconnect the electrical (white) connector inside the hand control. Take two needles and stick one into the black wire socket and the other one in the Orange socket. Connect your battery terminals, and turn on the key, take a screwdriver or something you can jump the two needles togther with while watching your rear brake lights. If the lights come on, then you know your wiring is good which would mean either the reed sensor is bad or out of adjustment. Hope this helps!

thanks for all the help guys I did the wire trick and found that it worked, kept checking and I found out that the sensor wire that plugs into the switchboard has a short in it, the rest of the switch is good, How can I get a new sensor & wire. who makes that sensor. I am trying to fix the wire now but the sensor is cracked

Where is this senso and how do you adjust it. I think I'm having this issue, but after reading up on here I'm still unsure how and where to adjust. Any info would help greatly.

Kdub, when you split the purch, the wire for the sensor will be running from the back side of the button circuit board to the front half where the brake lever is, the brake lever has a small round tube magnet that moves close to the sensor, this turns the light on and off when it moves away from the sensor. you loosen the very small flush set screw that in beside that sensor wire in the front peice and move the sensor in and out then you will retighten the set screw for the sensor.

I had it split the other day. The only wires I saw was the multi wire clip and the wire that runs your start button. Im thoroughly confused, but Ill do some more digging at it. So you are saying you have to split the control housing and within that there is very small set screw that you have to loosen to move the sensor one way or the other?

Mike is correct.

I have pics somewhere... if I find them I will post.

Also, make sure you haven't lost the magnet part (in the lever)... it might have fallen off? just a thought. Make sure you've got both ends in their places.
