From Alex. Help to understand.

Hello friends. Sorry, that was gone a long time. I did a full engine Rebild. Everything worked out. But my question is: is it possible to remove the plate between the intake manifold and head to the front and rear cylinder? I asked at the S&S. They said they can be assembled without them. Leaks will not. I read on our forum. Write can not be remove. It will be the distance between the manifold and head. I tried with them and without them. Good and so and so. But how right? What are these plates? Thanks for the help!
P.S. Does anyone is going to Moscow?

the plate is a cheap way that s&s and big dog used to meet the EPA regulations here in the states, less air/fuel entering the combustion chamber= less pollution, there is a post somewhere in the forum , instead of buying the spacer new drill the one you have out , somewhere the size is listed in a post:old2:

My carburetor: main jet 0.78
The intermediate jet 0.33.
The intermediate jet works up to 3000 rpm, main jet after 3000 rpm.
I think that we can remove the restrictor. It will be necessary to adjust the carburetor. There is another problem: whether it is possible to remove these plates? Assemble manifold without them? The flange and the rubber ring to fasten to the head without metallic gaskets? It would be better for hermetically.

Without the plates you MUST add a gasket. When you remove the restrictor plate you will create a gap between the manifold and the carb. If you cant find the gaskets, drill out the restrictor plates.

You have to bore the plates to port size 1.800".
If you leave them out, you'll have a major air leak at the manifold/intake port.

This is a quote from John Sachs himself. I'd do what he says, he's the expert.

Alex Is your ridgeback an 05 with the Ecarb? This spacer was between the carb and intake manifold only in 2005.Most of us OG did this spacer fix or do like I did an change out the manifold to a Gcarb intake manifold then pitch the spacer.

Here are the two spacer plates, the left side on is on top of the restictor plate. You have to peel the gaskets off the old plates and use them on the newer ones.
Or just bore your plates out. Does your plate look like the one on the left?

That's interesting..iv got an 05 ridgeback and my spacer/restricted plate was between the intake manifold and the intake port on the head, it doesn't even show on the schematic..

No. My plate on the right side. I do not understand is not in the scheme of these plates. At the S&S factory does not know anything about these plates. I wanted to to remove them. But I try assemble with them. At the S&S factory they told me that the extra gasket lead to leakage. They are advised to choose the appropriate manifold and install it without these plates.

These restrictor plates were put in by BigDog at the factory. They were used to meet the USA epa emisions regulations. You wont find them on the buildups. Like 05chop said, you can get a different manifold or just bore out the plate to a larger inner diameter.

Alex Plate not Plates look at item number 4 .Carb to manifold I used a fiber type gasket instead of making stock restrict-or work. All BDM did was restrick carb outlet to manifold not manifold to cylinder head. This picture of the carb (ask cutis) I dont think is from an 05 because they show oring mounting surface I wanted you to understand how it works. Fiber gasket or insulator not sure where I got it this was 16years ago
