If you are running the stock air filter along with that back plate I would NOT.
Other than that when using any modified or hi-flow filter (irrespective of the back plate) I normally recommend one remove the bowl vent.
(its real easy to do that - if it doesn't change the feel of your ride you can always screw it back on)
