Mr. Wright
Knows some things
We were out for a 3 hour cruise this morning, and all was well. We stopped for a short break, and it fired up just fine, then 15 miles down the road, it lost all power. I had a test light, and the battery wouldn't even light it up. So I pulled the battery, (luckily we had a bagger with us) and found a parts house that was just closing it's doors, and happened to have a Harley battery.
I hooked up the positive side, and when I went to hook up the negative side it sparked. One of the wires that is suppose to hook to the negative side is hot. Yes I know I got the wires back to where they belong. I don't know where this wire leads to yet, still waiting for the bike to get here. I didn't have enough tools to work on it down there. Plus there were 5 guys hanging over my shoulder, trying to give their input.
What I do have right now is the old battery. I put it up on the bench and checked it again. 11.9 volts, but when I hook the charger to it, the charger freaks out. Battery is obviously shorted out. Just installed it this last March.
It's this ground wire, that's hot, that has me stumped right at the moment.
Looking for a little input, before I start digging into it tomorrow.
