PM John and ask him. He builds racing motors and is in your area somewhere.

I'm a few blocks from him. I'm not looking to do it I have the s&s 640 cam already. but when everyone starts talking about more power and different cams, I was just thinking out loud and wondering.

ill tell you,

i have the 640 with .040 decked jugs, .060 shaved and ported heads, limiters, psi carb, 2ki ignition, 24/50 sprockets and a measly hooker 4-biddens pipe and i couldnt imagine much more.

grab a hand full and a half of throttle (psi) and its scary fast.

dyno #'s dont mean shit.

time to get these modified bikes to the track. :2thumbs:

I don't know anyone personally but woods has told me he has set up several of the 124 SSW engines with the .720 lift cam. I can't imagine that its very streetable.

Your correct Lee I guess I should have noted that there are 2 different 650 cams that woods offers. The difference being the duration. You should have a more compression with a longer duration which is why the woods came out with the designer cam called the W6HF with a .248 duration that can be ran with slightly lower compression. This is the cam that I think you have Lee. I am running the woods W9F which has a .256 duration which likes a little more compression. This is what I was told at woods and he basically that these were just the recommended comp ratios that would put the cam in the sweet spot but obviously they can be ran lower.
absolutely right there Al - that is the cam I have. :2thumbs:

Woods- great cams!

I have installed a W-62 cam in a 2007 TX Chopper with a 111 motor. Sent heads down to G Square, set up as street and strip port work. Took .30 off the heads W200 springs, G carb with thunder jet, S&S dual runner, Electric shift, Autometer shift light, Crane IGN, forgot the baker torque box 6 speed trans this thing rocks! Took it to the drag strip ran low 10’s out of the box. Adjusted tire pressure & little more fuel went right to 10 flat. Still this bike is street ridden, super fun to ride. Just hard on parts in the long run. Woods turn out a great selection of cams for any Big Dog motorcycle application.

nice!

i agree a high lift cam is rough on parts. got about 30k on my build and she's close to some TLC. still runs just as strong but can see oil coming down the outside of the rear exhaust valve guide. and the springs scream for mercy when at high rpms.

figure send the heads out for valves, guides, seats and springs. new set of hlt2 lifters, cam bearing and bushing.

should be under a G and good for another 30K

I just added the BCT original Thunder Monster baffles along with the S&S dual air intake. All I can say is WOW! The BCT's make it sound mean and the power difference is awesome! I installed them 6" in, like they recommend and love them. Everything else on my bike is stock.

Bob Wood 650 cam is a great cam it gets you out of the hole and just keeps getting it.Its not how fast you go its how fast you get there. The 600, and 640 cams are mid range cams.Had a 600 cam .

I just got my engine back from Hillside Cycles NY with the 650 Woods Cam, bigger valves, guides, springs, port and polished heads, modified Super G w/Thunderjet, Thunderheart ign. and it's at the shop being Dyno'ed tuned by Monday. Scott Palmer told me my compression is at 11.3 to 1. I will have Dyno #'s by this Monday. :2thumbs:
Never heard of Hillside Cycles, it's in NY state? What city they in?

I believe you can go to a 675 with the 117. you are going to need to do some serious motor work to run it though!!!
talk to john sachs he will tell you what you can run and how much its gonna cost

That's practically in my back yard, they say they have been around for 20 yrs but I've never heard of them. I hope the work they performed for you is what they claim it is. Sometimes these motor shops claim to have more experience than they truly do. I should take a trip up there and see what they have to offer. Never know when you might need some good advice.

You say that you've never heard of Hillside Cycle?

How can anyone living on the east coast, living anywhere near NY, and working in the motorcycle industry to boot, "not" know about Hillside?

What kind of tech are you exactly?

Never even heard of them and you're going to throw out that kind of accusation. :nono: :zzdisappointed:

Are you sure that you would "know" the difference one way or the other in their capabilities, if you saw it?

Yes, I would suggest you make the trip to Hillside, and possibly even down to John Sachs place and see what the true "pros" do and have to offer for ones such as yourself. :2thumbs:

Never know when you might need some good advice.
Yea, they might just tell you that they can see that a very abrupt occupational change is in your near future too with that ego!

j/k
