Scavenger Complete Oil System
http://www.roguechopper.com/

Broke off my "how to" thread...

After you drain your old oil from your oil tank and replace it with new oil. Spin off the old oil filter and throw out as normal.

Spin on scavenger unit.

Start bike at idle and pump out the rest of the old oil that is still in your system. I removed about a extra quart of black black dirty oil.

See what you're wouldn't be getting out.

This is at about a 1/2 a quart into the evacuation of the old oil

Now get yourself the new oil filter and BAM!

Remove your new oil filter from the package, apply a little bit of new oil to the new oil filter o-ring and spin onto the bike.

Check oil level in oil tank top off as nessicary. Start bike again to wet down the system. Allow to set. And top off again!

Went to Home Depot last night and picked up a 3/8 MPT x 1/2 barb adapter and some 1/2 ID clear hosing to add in another hose to the center hole. The one that leaks ALL over the place. Plus with the extra hose I lengthed the original drain hose.

Cost to modify... $10

Got to love it...

You would bash your hand, cuss while oil spills everywhere, and in general make a mess... but you'd survive!!

Well I just coughed up the money to get a Scavenger and hope it works well. Wish I found this when I bought the bike but I'm learning as I go. Happy Holidays to everybody ... ride safe. Surfs up somewhere on the planet. :D  :flag:

I used mine this spring. Got like a quart and a half out before seeing good clean oil! I will never NOT use one after seeing that!

Another trick that works well that costs $0.Is take your old filter off drain it for a bit then spin it back on leaving 1/4 inch gap, after you refilled your tank with fresh oil start it up and let run till you see clean oil come out, then put your new filter on and top off your tank.
This is what I do.

that would work ok with a disposable filter but not too well with a k&p re-usable filter.

This rogue system works real good and keeps things clean. There is another cheaper plastic unit just like this one available also.

Me I just start the motor up and let it run out of the filter housing into the drip pan till clean oil comes out. Simple and easy. :D

Hello Ray,

I just want to make sure I'm clear on this (before I try it :D)- you start your bike up w/ no filter at all and let it idle until clean oil comes out? What about the oil pressure? Doesn't the oil spray out of the filter housing, or does it flow out slowly? Thanks, Paul

change your oil, i.e. put in the right amount of new oil and then start the bike with the scavenger or whatever but without the new oil filter. The oil will just flow out until you get clean oil coming through. Don't let too much come out without topping up. When you're done just top up to the correct level.

Yep, the filter is on the downside of the oil pump that pumps the oil back to the vented tank. You would be surprised to find out that it flows out real slow. Like molasses.

Gas Man, I just purchased the scavenger unit, I went to find a piece of pipe for the center hole but could not find anything to fit . I am not shure how you hooked up the hose to the center hole. Any information you could give me to help me out would be gratefully appreciated. Thank You. Bob
