Removing the Starter Ring Gear 04 Chopper

I had the retention bolt on the starter gear back itself out the other day. I got a new gear and jack shaft thanks to HDM. Upon further investigation the ring gear has been chewed up, so it needs to be removed and at least deburred, if it can be used again at all. I do not see an easy way to get to the socketed cap screws holding this ring on. Anyone have suggestions?

You have to pull the clutch basket. For some reason, the 04's are the only ones that have a problem with that. I'm fixing to do mine also.

When mine started that nonsense, I was poor. I pulled the basket and flipped the ring over to use the non chewed up teeth. Still running it. That was 10 yrs ago.
