Opinions wanted on wheels

Okay as many of you just saw my new paint. I wanted the tribal blades because it carried the tribal theme from the wheels, forward controls and mirrors.

I was going to have him paint the blades completely in faux chrome, but, when he suggested making the face black and just chrome on the blade edges.... I liked that idea so I went with it.

I love the look of my wheels but hate the maintenance of polished billit.
I was wanting to get the wheels chromed at some point but it's so dambed pricy.

So my request for opinion question is: Would you go for chroming, or have the faces of the blades on the wheels black powder coated, leaving just the edges billit, just like the painted blades? See photo

tuff decision. Have you given thought to giving that picture to someone with the artistic ability to create your idea(s) on paper or a computer generated image?

Well, if you are totally against polishing the aluminum then get them Chromed.

good idea. . I was even thinking of blacking it out with a sharpie marker to get a feel for it, then just clean it off.

Yup I hate the maintenance of polishing, just don't have time and would rather ride...
In the winter when the bike is parked I polish, but after a season of riding they always need re-polished.

I think your paint is awesome, I also think you can have too much going on if you do something with your wheels, it will detract from your paint work. I would have the wheels chromed and let the great paint work be the focus on your bike.

Chrome! I can tell you I just had a sissy bar chromed by Brown's and the whole experience was awesome from the great customer service to the turnaround time to the result. I assume the rims would take longer but mailed my sissy bar out last Friday 01/20 and had it back in a week 1/27.

I know no one likes to polish the aluminum, but yesterday I had my dog parked next to my buddy's Thunder Mountain. And sort of like a real diamond next to a CZ, the billet properly polished up has so much more richness to the look vs the chrome. So one vote saying the billet is worth maintaining.

Oh, and I agree with Aspen about not doing anything that would take away from focus on the paint job.

I don't have an opinion on what you should do, but I did go the powder route on my PM wheels. Very similar to what your talking as far as a contrast between the black and polished.

In my case I am beginning to think, my idea would be too much compition with the paint. Would love to have mine chromed, but got to stay realistic about the investment.

So far am am lucky enough to sell (if I wanted to) for full return on my investments, based on last 6 months of fleabay action.

I have gotton too carried away many times in the past with muscle car restorations and bikes, and never could re-coup
