I need help in trying to bridge the gap between BDM paint code and my local PPG paint supplier... I brought the formula into them and they look at me like I had a "Blank" coming out my forehead...They claim they cannot mix the paint according to the formula BDM sent me...Does anyone know who can? Possibly charge and ship me a quart of each?

The code BDM sent me:

Burnt Orange
Base Coat Weight
DMD1690 403.2
DMD1607 504
Top Coat Weight
DMX211 44.4
VM4102 53.3
DBC500 497.1

Your local bodyshop most likely will not stock DMX 211 or VM4102..they are specialty tints, you need to find who supplies the paint to the bodyshop (around here we call them 'THE JOBBER') and go to them and ask them for the mix.....I have had a complete PPG mixing system and I never carried the specialty tints,I would order as needed (the mix).......

Thanks, but I'm dealing with the Supplier here in town...I just wanted to know if I'm jacked up...They didnt know if it was a quart size or? I can't tell if it's a quart size...I know I need one quart of base coat and one of the top coat. I need someone who have done this before...maybe Ed's the guy...

WTF...does 'I wanted to know if I was jacked up' supposed to mean?
Basecoat is almost like a pint and the top coat is like a 1/2 pint...for real if you cant figure this out and the supplier you are dealing with cant either, maybe best you leave it to someone that has done this before.........the weights after the tints are in grams .....and you never mentioned what you are painting, which would determine how much paint you need to do the job, which means if you do the math you can cut the formula weight down in order to not buy too much paint.....one quart of basecoat also once reduced will give you 1/2 gallon of sprayable material ....which is enough to do 3-4 bikes...but what do I know......
Also then what are you gonna do to make it shine...you will need clearcoat, which most require a hardener that is best suited for the temprature and conditions you have where you are spraying along with a reducer that is also dependent upon weather and conditions.....but then again what would i know I have only been doing this for 30 years.......wish I had done this before......
