2006 K9 Fires Erratically in the 70mph Range

My 2006 K9 spits and sputters at the low end 70mphs and the upper end 70mph.

I thought it might be the carb not jetted correctly, but it was pointed out that it could be the ignition. Any ideas or ways to test?

I would say it’s the little things that matter. Is there anything you changed before it started? Check plugs, wires , if you haven’t in a while change them. Then carb , bad fuel , filter , something fuel or spark related would be first suspects. Good luck

Check to make sure the auxiliary vent plug is removed. As Harry said, check all of your rubber caps are in good shape. Check for intake leaks by spraying WD40 around the seals. If your idle changes, you have a leak. If you are running with no baffles, you may need to up your air bleed jet.

I had a similar experience with the spike air cleaner around the same speed, I would try a different air cleaner
That air cleaner performed so poorly I gave it away to another member on this forum and paid the shipping just to get it out of my garage… I did warn him not to use it. But he wanted it for the look on the bike…
