Offer them 20k and see what happens, what do you lose? If they accept you get exactly the same bike as 2019 model... and save some dough.

But the thing is it most likely isn't worth 20k, you'd have to get the VIN number and see what your insurance company will give you if it were totaled out.

That's its true worth and value.

The owner/dealer should consider this, what's something worth that nobody wants to buy?
Seems you have your mind made up.

If you figure a new Dog loses like 50% out of door, that is depending the price 18-20.000.
If 20.000 bike loses the same, -wich would be way too much- that would be 10.000. You save 8-10.000. And I would buy the bike for 12.000 the next day, so youll lose 6-8.000.
Is that correct?
Even cheaper for you would be just sending me 5.000 check tomorrow morning for consultation .

Not exactly but things are shaping up to be what they are.

I'm still waiting for someone to suggest another (safer), way to make work what I layed out...
I think the best investment would be to find a low mileage dog for 10k or so which come around very often now a days and take a few grand and make it how you want.

Jersey Big Mike

100K mile club
ok, I looked at Kelly Blue Book for the value - trade in to dealer was apprx 22K and private sale was almost 27K.

If I was in a hurry I'd look at 27K plus, as 27 was typical mileage (what ever that is for a chopper!) I'd max my offer out at 30K if paint is perfect.

I think thats the bike they were making when we visited Big Dog. It was a custom order. Looks like the deal went bad or new owner put it for sale pretty quck. If indeed it is the same bike.

On the subject at hand, I'm thinking of telling BD I will do it... just as long as they put something 'in writing' to the effect that 'if' something does happen and the bike doesn't get made for whatever the reason, they (BD), will guarantee me the amount the dealer said I would receive, BD will back that up with a guarantee to pay me back in full.

So what do yous think?

Any ideas?
Sounds good

Anybody know any specifics I should add for the write up that would make it legal?
Not sure if this is a legitimate request or messing with us.... If it is, go to Template.com and you can download a simple purchase agreement for in the "word" format so you can modify; i.e., delete, add information and customize it to your situation....
