Deka Battery Deal

Hey guys, been awhile. So my $200 braille battery took a shit...2 months after the warranty expire of course. Good battery but for the price didn't seem worth it for me. The bike had a harley battery in it when I bought it and it lasted 4 years from date code before it went. So I decided to go with Deka this time, just wanted to share the deal I came across.

So $87 at lowes then I bought some coupons off ebay. $3 for 3 $20 off $100.

I just added a few cement backer boards for my tile project in my bathroom I'm working on to get it up to $100. So in the end, the Deka battery is $67 plus tax so its around $73 or so. Shipping is free to store so Ill just pick it up there and lowes is easy for returns if anything goes bad. Just ordered everything, figured I'd share.

I have a Deka and I have no complaints. With my company discount I paid like $93 for it after tax and core charge.. old battery was good, just didn't seem to have the umph..

I just picked up a TrottleX, 500CCA and not lithium, load tested it right out of the box and it load tested to 500CCA, $110.

$75 is a good deal for a Deka

Watch these cheap ass batteries guys. I have a K9 in my shop right now, that lost the EHC because the battery shorted out. This makes 3 that I've had in here because of this, and several others had the same problem. I know nothing about these Deka batteries, so I don't know if you will have problems with it or not, but trying to save money on a battery, you''l be putting into buying an EHC.

Deka makes the HD batteries this one should be just great. I had this same Deka in the bike when I bought it worked great.

Matter of fact Strokers recommends Deka, believe that's all they carry and actually they dont speak highly about Yuasa. I dont have experience with Yuasa.

My buddy just brought over his Yamaha Roadstar with a 8 yr old Yuasa battery in it... started just fine. Most batteries are made the same way from a $80 battery to a $300 battery. Just the luck of the roll of dice... You just have to get the right Cranking amps to start your bike.

I've had 96 CI, 107 Ci, 113 Ci and Walmart batteries started them all. I've had super rev starters and high compression motors and no difference. I'm Scottish so i don't waste money (that's why I'm so rich LOL) But high rev starters don't really need the extra power if they are wired/working right. Once in awhile you will get a rebuilt battery (and most are) that gets a short and then it will start nothing...

Yea, but they last. The one I'm using for a bench test battery, was in a bike for 7 years, and we replaced it with the same thing, and that was 4 years ago.

But online you can get it for a lot less... Deka batteries are great and worth the price but online you can get a bargin unlike the stealer dealer... I went to Harley and asked about an oil cooler. $449...... The very same one on Ebay was $185.......

Yeah Deka makes Harley batteries. The previous Harley battery lasted 4 years, braille lasted 2 so For 1/3 of price seems pretty good.

I've bought very expensive batteries and very cheap ones in the last 30 years. None lasted more than 2 years so what is the difference? Ya, you can push it but when you are at a bar at 2 am and the bike won't start or you are out 200 miles and it won't start it doesn't matter what you paid. Buying a battery once a year is cheap insurance and Deka and Walmart has batteries you can afford to replace once a year with a 1 year warranty so what do you have to lose?

If the EHC is fused like DOC's ESC you don't have to worry about the battery taking out the brain.

2am closing down a bar and driving home is a brilliant idea especially on a bike.

When you say you load tested it and got 500CCA did you really drop the temperature of the battery to 0 degrees or did you test at ambient temperature in which case thats CA not CCA.

No freezer time and it will never see that temp, so you are correct, CA.
Thinking about it, it prolly will never see anything under 60* since its in a heated garage thru the winter months.

bigdogs came with Deka batteries from the factory. I've had good luck with them and there not a bad price
