I have always wanted a seat that compliments the paint scheme on the scoot an that time has come.

    Current stock 2 up seat

When I first emailed Sterling I asked what can he do for me? Sterling said "We start with a brand new seat, they are not reworks or seconds. We can add gel, modify the shapes and do any sort of custom cover. We can make just about any seat any way that the customer wants.

I next contacted Sterling a few days later with just a vague idea of what I was looking for. Sterling asked for some pics of the Mastiff and in addition to that I described my ride style, conditions I find my self riding in, the baggage that the seat needs to support and a pic of my Rail with the wizard figure on it. The seat needs to be tough as well as great looking. Probably gave him too much information, heh. Also gave Sterling some pics of seats that were interesting to me and said " looked at a lot of seats and how about this. Flames to match the bike and a wizard stitched in? Perhaps with BDM across the back or even my forum name Knotso".

Sterling replied: "Can you send me a larger image of the wizard?"
:D So I sent over my entire wizard folder.

What Sterling Seats sent is a brand new custom seat

(date on official tag on underside is Dec 27, 2010),

    and black Gator hide inlays
    [IMG]
    licking around the wizard
    [IMG]
to match my paint on the rider seat with matching flames also on the passenger section.
A light Grey/Silver for the wizard figure which is a spot on replica to the one stitched on my jacket,

Knotso perfectly stitched into the seat in bold custom lettering.

Gel pad on both seat portions for the ultimate in comfort.

    First Visual impression:
This seat is so cool I joked with the wife we should frame it and hang it on the wall. I called it Art, she called it the best looking BDM motorcycle seat she has seen and it will stay on the Mastiff in the garage.

    First Ride Impression:
I got out in 28 degree weather today for a short ride and the Sterling seat is far more comfortable than the stock seat. Longer ride report when the opportunity arises to get out on a run with the hound.

My first communication after opening and checking out this seat was simply this:

    Sterling,

    You have exceeded my expectations!

From start to finish, all communication was accomplished via email.
When the seat was shipped I received an email with the date the seat was shipped, the tracking # of the package and the expected arrival date.
I had this shipped to my work address and it arrived as promised.

I gotta say it was a good experience with a young company who clearly understands excellent customer service and the inherent value of getting it right the first time, on time and delivered as promised. In the custom motorcycle industry, this is not always the case, yet Sterling is in my opinion is leading this industry by example and setting the standards high.

I always give the artist some ideas of what I am looking for and then it is in the hands of the Artist to give me the very best they can do.
    Sand Rail:
When I hired an airbrush artist to paint my sand rail in this manner I was seriously nervous as I gave him about 150 pics of things I was interested, and he came back with only one question: do you want a wizard or a jester theme? I said both. Then waited the 4 weeks it was promised. 2 weeks after that I called and he said he was really bust so I asked "when then?'. 2 more weeks. It was 5 months from the day I dropped the tins off for paint that he called and said they were done. I was actually pissed about the time, then I saw the result. Long overdue & not on time, on budget and I got an incredible and awesome paint scheme. The artist in the painter came thru 100%.

    Big Dog Seat:
Sterling is a custom seat artist who's only delay in all this was my deciding what I wanted. Once we agreed on the final design, Sterling had the seat completed and in the mail within a couple days! I was provided excellent communication, a custom seat that far exceeded my expectations and delivered on time in a professional manner. This is a high quality seat. I would recommend Sterling Seats to anyone with a desire to ride more comfortably (who does not?) and to greatly improve the look of their scoot.

    Sterling Facts:
I was not aware of Sterling Seats till recently when a couple of other forum members - Phatass (As far as comfort...it blows the stock seat away)and Five Five posted about their seats.
One of the questions I asked Sterling was why his name had not surfaced until recently and he said: "We are a new start up company. Our website just went up in late November. It is still a work in progress. We pride ourselves in excellent customer service. Our goal is to provide quality products at fair prices. We love what we do and we are here to serve our customers the best way that we know how. Motorcycle seats are our #1 seller"

I asked Sterling if seats is all they do and was told in the near future this young company will be expanding into custom motorcycle leather and will be offering get back whips and leather key chains in the next week or so. They are are also getting leather vests made up. These are just a couple of things that Sterling is working on.

PS: Camera got wet on last ride and did not survive. I stopped by wal mart and picked up a cheapo camera and the pics are what I get for picking up a $39 camera. new camera soon and will replace all these pics.

If anyone wants more int=fo on my seat or pics, let me know.

Nice seat Knotso. I've had mine from Sterling since the summer. Mines just basic black with the gel inserts but it's one comfortable seat and the wife said it's comfortable too.

When I got home tonight, the seat was hanging on the wall and while it looked totally out of place, I took the opportunity to ask if we could turn the living room into the new Mastiff Room.

The look from the wife suggested not so. :D:cheers:
