Running rich

    Took my 2006 k9 out for a ride today an it started running rich. I've had the bike for 5 weeks an it was running like a top. Now today it started running rich. cleaned the k&n filter pulled the plugs an there black need some help. Thanks

    I would put new plugs in after I find out y it's running rich. I live in a small town a no one has shit for this bike.

    That was the first thing I looked at today. An it's not. The bikes got twelve thousand miles on it so may need a carb kit.

    It's got a lot of black smoke coming out the exhust so it is bad rich.

    If plugs are dirty and you start to lose spark then you will have unburned fuel making a rich condition.

    I have been running like this for more than 12 mths, i can't seem to get it right and i am at sea level, i just ride it.

    The man I got the bike from just put new plug in it 2 months befor I got the bike. An I don't want to ride it because it will wash the oil off the cylinders walls.

    I used the NGK GR42635 runs fine in the 107ci

    If it's running rich you are getting too much gas/not enough air.
    1- Air cleaner is dirty or clogged/collapsed
    2- Float is not set right or carb not adjusted right.
    3- Enricher is stuck closed
    4- You live in Cali where everything is rich.....

    Champion RN12YC or equivalent.
    The NGK GR42635 is an equivalent plug for the 88ci all the way up to and including the 117.
