Does anyone know of an oil cooler setup, preferably dual, with a thermostat, and possibly a temp gauge for a S&S 117?

I searched the threads, and everythings pretty old.

Hey Nelson, do you still carry these? (Big Dog brand)

If so, how much for two?

We can get them for all the bikes IF they're in stock at the factory. Different versions for several of the bikes so I'll have to research it a bit.

These ALWAYS sell out so the group buy leverage isn't as strong there, however if we can get ten going we have a shot.

I tryed the BDM oil cooler not very effective oil temp droped only 10F
I went for a Jaggs oil cooler. 6 row.
Oil temp went from 235F to 185F instantly.
Black Dog in Harrisburg did the install.

Where did you mount Dog 10 ? I have no doubt that it would drop more than the Drag Specialties or BDM versions.

Not knocking it at all ... but I like the mounting of the BDM version on the downtubes over my tool roll. Don't you need to put this in place of the tool roll ?

I mounted both on the down tubes. Then ran the lines to connect each one, back to the oil filter. I also dont have a tool roll.

shouldn't the oil temp be maintained around 210F????????

Oil needs to get above 212 degrees so the moisture will boil out.

I am using two wimmer oil coolers on my HD SG.

I am using the jagg thermostatic adapter.

You can see one of them on the down tube here:

I have the 10" from here:
Oil Coolers

They have the gauge adapter available. Since I have gauges in the fairing, I did not need the adapter.

I run Dual BDM oil Coolers and Amsoil 20w 50. in the summer in AZ

This set up dropped my temp about 30 degrees and the engine runs quieter

My oil pressure increased 0ver 10psi at idle hot. I don't run a temp gauge

I might be interested in the group buy but have a question.....

I will run the dog all winter here in the Northeast so, other than the bike taking longer to warm up, would running the dual coolers be a problem?

If you have the thermostatic adapter or a valve to control the oil flow, you should be OK.

Some people also cover the cooler to kill the efficiency.

TCALZ .. same here dual Factory Oil Coolers here in FL and they work great. Dropped 20-30 degrees vrs no cooler. Also no need for a thermostat as it seems to stick around 215F - 240F depending on how hard I ride.

Google search on this:

temperature moisture boils out of oil

General consensus is 212 F which is the boiling of water at sea level.

API may may know something I don't (of course they know more than me...they are the API :D )

Just reporting what I was told and what I found when I researched it before I did my setup.
