Rotella ain't Rotella any more. About 8 years ago reformatted getting rid of the high level of zinc and sulphur. No longer recommended for solid lifter engines. I had to go with Brad Penn for hot rods.

I have been using the Amsoil with no issues. Still wondering if I should change to something different.

Amsoil is a quality product. No need to worry.

I had a guy stop by that needed a shaft made. I've known him for years, but didn't know what he did for a living. He said he worked for Schaeffer oil, a company that's been around since 1839. I was talking to him about coolant for my machines, when he noticed that I had some Amsoil on my shelf. I said yea, I have some customers that request it, but its gotten to expensive for me to use, and that I use Mobile 1. He said let me show you something. He brought in a friction tester, and Mobile 1 tested better than the Amsoil. Noticeably difference. Then he showed me the Schaeffer oil on the scorched bearing he tested the other oils on. OMG, made a believer out of me immediately. So I put it in my truck, 1 ton Chevy with the 6.0 in it. I could tell a difference in the sound of the engine immediately, and I have been averaging 9.9 MPG, and by the second tank of fuel my mileage is now averaging 11.1 MPG.
Look it up and do some research. I've been talking to alot of people around here, and was surprised at the number of people that already knew about this. As a matter of fact Brian said, yea that's all he runs in all his company and personal vehicles. So I asked why not his bike? blah blah blah, you can see where this went. He changed his mind.

My salesman friend ran out of oil in his car. We let the engine cool and added what ever we found and kept going. With some noise and smoke.
    Two lessons:
    1. It is good to have oil in engine
    2. It is good to have a company car if you don't have oil in engine.
