We don't like it, but rain happens. One thing I don't much care for is wearing rain gear. It's hot and won't protect you if you go down. So I decided to do something different this year, I ran across an age old recipe for water proofing.

I've used it on my boots and it work great. I made me up a can of it a couple months ago.

Took a sponge and rubbed it on, like you were polishing your boots.

Took my heat gun, a hair dryer will work too, and melted it into the leather.

Then I took a cloth, and wiped the excess off as I was heating.

It comes out looking nice, and you really can't feel the wax on it.

    Poured some water on it.

    And it runs right off.

Now to fold them up properly. Fold the legs together.
    20170327_142548.jpg
    Tuck the belt in.
    20170327_142607.jpg
Fold in thirds, tucking the corners in
    20170327_142633.jpg
    20170327_142646.jpg
    Tuck the loose pieces in.
    20170327_142705.jpg
    And snap the snaps.

Good thing to do. I got caught in the rain going to Ohio Bike Week. It rained for most of the ride which was around 2 hours. The rain soaked through my leather jacket. My T-Shirt was soaked. I thought leather was water proof. But I found out the hard way.

Rode straight through from Eureka California to Tacoma in the rain, got wet, very wet. When the sun went down, got very cold.

Nice waterproofing tip, may try it this year...
