Gas Cap Threads

Anybody know the technical data such as,diameter and TPI (threads per inch) and thread form for our BDM caps?

It is 1 1/4'' - 8tpi. But I don't belive you can thread a bolt in there, It's an odd thread.

Does anyone know if the Big Dog thread pattern is compatible with aftermarket caps made to fit Harleys? If so, what year harley?

Folks at Landmark can tell ya. They made gas caps for Big Dog and make Harley gas caps.
I just bought a set of replacement caps from them. Mine were the older type that swelled up due to the alcohol in gas.

Kuryakyn Replacement Key - For Flush Gas Cap (KY-8309 or KY-8310) - Harley Davidson Screw Type Tanks (82 - Newer) | CruiserCustomizing

This is the key for them but it gives you the part numbers for the left and right.
