When you get the new caps and paint savers from Landmark, the removal/install tool comes with it. Use the hair dryer to get the JB Weld loose. Really not that bad once you get into it. And it is a good idea to drain the tanks so you can clean them out once you are done. Some old JB Weld will fall in. The bungs are standard thread, so the new paint savers screw right in. Just take time to clean up the old JB Weld and you are golden.

Is it possible I already have the landmark cap and paint savers? Mine look very similar to the landmarks. When I get home I will post a pic.

Looks like you are almost there. put two layers of blue tape around the save and on this side it is righty loosey. Once mine got that stuck, I brought the paint saver right up with the cap.

I know this is several months later but, I just had the same thing happen to mine. Did you get it worked out? Did you remove the paint saver or manage to get the nylon out? I'd appreciate any info you could give. Thanks.

I did get the savers and nylon out. But I plan to replace them with regular Harley caps.

Ok guys hope someone can give me a solid answer have a 2004 Pitbull split tanks And paint is just starting to peel not even 1/8 inch yet have oem caps no tank savor rings have read a lot and still not sure what answer is meaning other then cutting back paint and sealing. First question what do I Seal paint with and do I install paint savor rings and fill caps or do I install ratcheting vented caps from Harleydavidson which not sure I can get left and right threaded caps please advise this needs adressed ASAP.
