    Liferider. Short answer to your question is underwater welding is not arc welding. It uses self consuming method. You push the rod into the work. Also there is a proprietary metallurgy in the rod. Very high nickel content which helps keep the weld from becoming brittle.

    We use broco rods. And we have several different methods for cutting including a method of kerrie cable which is a self consuming cable filled with oxygen

    I spent 45 years in the business. I cut the propellers of the Aircraft Carrier Orisknay before it was towed to the east coast and sunk.

    That's pretty cool Pro.....I always wanted to dive the Orisknay. I've done some shipwreck diving off the keys.
