How do you test the cam sensor to make sure that is the problem. The Harley manual states that there should be a resistance on the wiring to the sensor. What is the wiring chart for putting on a HD Cam Sensor on to a 04 Big Dog? From reading the Harley manual the wiring colors are not the same.
Who has these mid 90's Evo sensors for a decent price? One place I looked wanted $136.

Cam sensor from Harley is about $70, dealers stock them, but I believe the drag catalog has them cheaper. Wiring is the same, red green black.

Personally I could give a shit if a guy does an intro or not, this ain't a dating site. I've got a brand new cam sensor, I installed it in a 2004 Chopper last week but now he wants a programmable ignition so I gotta take it back out. It was $68 from HD (with a %15 discount). I'll sell it for $50 delivered, with the BD plug so it's plug and play, no soldering required. Let me know if you want it.

It was always something that bugged me a little bit and I see it here alot. A guy is frustrated, angry, and generally lost on what to do to fix his bike. We've all been there. He goes online to try to find help, finds this site, and posts his question. Instead of a relevant answer, he gets some crap about posting an intro. If you're gonna ride someone about an intro, at least get them pointed in the right direction about fixing their bike. That's why they came here, not to tell you where they live, their marital status, and that they like to plant tomatoes in the spring. Intros just clog the "new posts" page if you ask me. Sorry if I offended anyone, but it's the way I feel. Anyone need a cam sensor?

Shut up Joe, you're on my shitlist for not showing Fri night. I got pics of CJ kissing the fattest, oldest bitch in the bar, and Gary throwing up all over the deck of the boat Sat morning. We had a killer time! FYI I'm planning a 4th of July trip to the Inner Harbor, call me if you want details. We will be down there Sat/Sun night.

I agree with you Moe. I think there's a better chance that a new guy will chose to be a contributing member of this "community" (and post an intro) if he gets a good feeling about the forum. One of the best ways to accomplish that is to give him some answers that help get his Dog back on the road not grief about lack of an intro.

    With that said...
    1. Disconnect the cam sensor from the ignition module.
    2. Take out your trusty multimeter and set it to the RX1 scale.
    3. Now while touching the sensor backing plate with the negative meter lead touch the positive meter lead on each of the three wires of the sensor connector (red, black, & green). If you get continuity from the backing plate to any of them the sensor is bad.

If it passes the first test...
    1. With your meter still at the same settings touch the positive meter lead to the green wire and the negative meter lead to the black wire. If you get an "open" it's good.
    2. Then take the positive meter lead and touch the black sensor wire while touching the negative meter lead to the green wire. In this case an "open" is bad. A reading somewhere around 300 - 750 Kohms is what you're looking for.

So what values did you get in each step?
