I had a similar problem with my bike except I went to use the horn and it stuck on and then the lights started flashing and it died, shut the key off and turned it back on and it fired right up, turned out that my wires to the horn were shorting out and caused the problem, after fixing the wires I haven't had a problem.

    cdogg,

Good to hear that it was an easy fix and has held up. Beautiful Bulldog BTW. I love the single tank on those and sort of wish mine had one like such instead of the split tank. Not that the split Fat Bob style is bad, just sometime the center counsul can get loose and drive me crazy with it little rattle. Maybe one of these days, I may mod mine to a single tank and then off all the tins to Ed for some cool paint.

    Be safe riding

Right after the shutting off problem started I noticed I had a squeek and rattle sound. Looked everywhere for the cause of the squeeking while I was at BBBQ. Got back home and started looking again for the sound and found my top motor mount was extremely loose. I tightned it back up and have not had the shutting down problem since. It may have been so loose it was shutting off the key. I bought a PDM kit anyway, I'll install it when the weather gets bad. Thanks for the advice on the horn.

I ordered mine through Rodneys in Little Rock Ar. They got it from BDPP. Took about 3 weeks to get it.

I got mine from my dealer (Full House in Winchester VA), however I had spoken to BDPP first and waited until they had a batch coming and then arranged it with the dealer.

Best advise is to stay in touch with BDPP and see when they are going to get some in for you model. May want to put money up front since they seem to go quick.

Well it finally happened, I was having a awsome day riding on Sat. and I lost all power, shut it down and turned the key on and I had power again, anyway it did that all the way home, luckly Moespeeds helped me out and called me to tell me how to bypass the EHC for now, He is one smart dude, once he got it through my thick head, it seemed very simple to understand, and it was pretty simple to do, Fibersnake, thanks for the complements on my bike, I love the damd thing, and even with these little problems, I still would not buy any other bike, anyway I think it is time for a new PDM, and I agree with you fibersnake, it just seems like a cleaner product and I like the fact that it is a BDM product, and you definately make it seem easy to install, thanks for your awsome post, looks like I will be installing one soon!

    cdogg,

Good luck with it. For most of the people I have talked to and read on, no real issue with it though Purple Dog and some with the air comp have some issue getting the room for a neat install due to the HCI placment.

Raywood should be a good resource also and hopefully when he gets time, will put up some more info and pictures from his install.

May be carefull on what other stuff you add to it such as HID. Seems some have had issues with HID kits, but then again it may be the HID, the install or who knows for some of the problems that people have reported on here were not just limited to PDM kits.

Install is pretty striaght forward and the more info you can get form people that have installed, the better it will be for tips and stuff, so search to see what is out there. Also take your time to lay out the wiring routing, look at Raywood photos for how he mounted the relays for the horn and starter. Mounting on the side can be a PITA with the side covers, consider alternative location like front of Battery Box.

Good luck and let us know how you make out. If you do it, try to get pictures and write up and post any suggestion, problems or tips for helping out others down the road.

Overall I think it is starting to look like a good product and maybe what BD should have done in the first place. Just be cautious of what accessories you may add, but in fairness anytime one changes from stock to some custom work, things may not alwasy go as expected.

    Safe riding!

Ok..... Ok.... I better get to working on my How-to. I have uploaded a lot of pictures on my install and they are in my Gallery section called PDM Install. Was super easy and except for a couple issues like location of the relays it was real simple. Mine did take longer cause I shrunk wrapped every wire from the VR to the rear lits wiring. Then I rode it 1300 miles home and pulled it all apart and did it again cause I added my Adjustable ignition that I bought from Little Boo several years ago!!!
I'll get this done here in the next day or two since there is a lot of interest in this.
Thanks to Fibersnake for getting this all started with his How To.

    :cheers::2thumbs::cheers:
