A couple thousand miles ago I had my clutch plates replaced with a standard 12 plate kit. (I was not informed of a 9 plate kit option) After some time and adjustments I still cannot get into neutral at a light. It still drags a little but not so bad I cant hold it with my legs. (Yes, the clutch is adjusted correctly) I was talking to a friend of mine that builds bikes and he said that he had heard of removing 2 plates (fiber & steel). If the pressure isnt enough, use washers behind the bolts. Before I crack open the primary, I'd like yalls thoughts.

When you adjusted the push rod how much did you back it off? Manual suggests 1/4 turn, I have mine at 1/16 turn, I am also running the 12 plate but I also have the soft pull ramp which is a little touchier to get right, but you can get it.

You need to pull the pack out anyway. Steels have memory, have a cut side, have to be assembled with steel cuts toward you. On disassembly, video the stack coming out and lay out or pull one at a time and bring it up to the phone's camera. Were all the cuts facing out?
No. You showed proof from start to finish, some steels and fibers were randomly installed = Get your money back and someone pays for a clutch pack.
Yes. Then someone assembled it correctly, no recourse, must be you? A couple of thousands from 1/4 to 1/16 is still going to drag and not release.

Stack all steels, all cuts facing one direction, place in palm, look for air gaps. Shuffle top and bottom plate in the pack so those clear inspection. If one steel is warped, there is your discard plate. Same goes looking for warp and facing side for the fibers as well.

On my ridge 2005 is also 12 plates. regulated for a long time. Now instantaneously I find neutral. Very carefully adjust the rod. Then adjust the cable. I've been doing for manual. Back to 90 degrees. but before adjusting rod, fully extend the cable. If I remember it right.
